They need to add entertainment value to their shows. Just showing fights isn't cutting out. How about some contests at these shows where someone in the audience wins a car or money? How about some live music in the Octagon between fights?
Fuck that nonsense.
Oh yeah, how about a $10,000 bonus every show for Fan Of The Night?
Huey freman - The brand is being devalued, its like in the uk tapout start selling their clothes at sports direct which is the place all the Scruffs go to buy their track suits, you can get tapout t-shirts there for £4.99.
Most people wouldn't wear tapout anyway because of the douche factor but now all the council estates are full of tapout wearing chavs, I thought it was a strange decision because it's destroyed the brand name.
The UFC's business model at the minute reminds me of this, compared to the glory cards which seem to have this quality atmosphere about them.
Were in danger of the sport going backwards in terms of convincing people that mma fighters are as skilled and as high quality of their counterparts in boxing, the UFC must know this but it's going ahead anyway, I just hope they know what they are doing because I loved the UFC and mma in general and want to see it succeed, I just hope the sport isn't being sacrificed to turn a profit.
U can get bad boy there aswell. I remember at 1 point payin £40 for a bad boy a few years back.
The diluted cards are killing it for me. I used to not miss a fight.
I only watched like 3 or 4 fights yesterday, and I was doing other stuff on the computer and phone the whole time. Hell I stopped watching the cub vs Stephens fight halfway through and got on here afterwards to see who won.
It makes me sad too because I love MMA, or I used to I guess.
Same here. I FF most of it. Watched 3 rounds of the main event and was like...Cub's gonna squeak this out. Fuck it, FF and Cub squeaked it out.
I didnt watch any of the two cards this weekend. I've been saying it for years... The ufc is the budlight of mma, watered down. Just proving it more and more.
I thought I was the only one that stopped watching fights a couple months ago. Where are the big fights anymore? I literally just watch the highlights. Plus Wanderlei running away from a test. The fiasco with Fight Pass. Cain will not have fought for over a year. GSP Anderson gone. It has become stale.
I agree with everything people are saying about a diluted product that's lowering the brand's prestige.. that being said.. could you imagine how good some cards could be if they just ran 10-12 cards a year? Pick out the best fights /fighters from all the cards in June and make 1 card.. ouch looking back at the June cards is just depressing. Instead, look at all the upcoming July cards and make a 12 fight card out of all the matchups available in July..
Weidman (c) v Machida Rousey (c) v Davis Lawler v Brown Edgar v Penn Johnson v Lil' Nog (when will Lil' Nog pull out of that 1?)
Thompson v Johnson FS1 headliner Faber v Caceres McGregor v Brandao Cerrone v Miller McCall v Pickett Hall v Santos Nelson v Cummins Barbosa v Dunham Struve v Mitrione
I know that's 14 you could cut 2 I'm a big Gunnar Nelson fan but most would probably cut that bout, and the HW bout I don't care for but it's a shame how few HW and LHW bouts are put on these days
Bottom line, Dana has lost touch of reality, especially with regards to the fans. Yeah, I know he's infamous for interacting on Twitter or social media, but the majority of the time - that's just another avenue for him to call fans goofs, clown shoes, retards...or tell them to go fuck themselves, if they have a complaint or suggestion about his product.
I get the impression Dana is the happiest guy in the room, if everyone is kissing his ass and telling him how great he and Zuffa are...but he's a tyrant, if you question or criticize anything he's associated with. The only way that I can explain such odd behavior, is ego and power, that has led him to believe he (and Zuffa) are invincible.
Think about the consumer backlash that other CEO's would receive if they told their customers to "fuck your dollar" or "you don't like it, don't buy it - I don't give a shit" or "fuck you goof". So why do MMA fans continue to bend over and ask Dana for another? Why do MMA fans continue to take his shit, and line his pockets in the process? Frankly, I don't get it. I haven't bought a PPV since Penn/Diaz and won't be buying any until the tyrant is either gone, or changes his attitude.
People like Dana don't change unless they're hit where it hurts...in their wallet.
Dana - I know you don't read the UG anymore, but hopefully one of your interns will tell you to do some self reflection. Gain some humility, go back to being the guy that cared about your core fanbase, and listen to suggestions from time to time. Many of us here aren't as ignorant as you think.
orcus - This weekend had two cards and I only cared about the main event in each. Next weekend has two cards and I only care about the main event in each.
No way am I blocking off an evening or getting out the wallet for 5-25 minutes at 12.30am. Especially since even that one fight could well end up a stinker.

I don't know why people assume the Zuffa CEO who lives, eats and breathes the business of mma and is privy to way more than you has somehow lost touch and doesn't know what's going on or best for the company he took from millions in the hole on the verge of bankruptcy to a billion dollar juggernaut. You also should realize he constantly has a ton of haters constantly insulting him and starting shit with him. People on this forum rage on one or two hatershaters. Imagine if you had a thousand people constantly trolling you and calling you names every chance they got. The guy leaves lines of communication open to interact with fans and then people slam him for it saying he doesn't act like CEOs or commissioners of other sports orgs. Try talking to Roger Goodell about NFL events and see how far you get.
Too many weight classes, there should only be 5 or 6 and no women. They also need to stop doing so many watered down cards, I didn't care to watch either card yesterday because I only knew about 4 fighters combined. It won't get fixed anytime soon.

You do realize that other commissioners of major sports leagues don't get on twitter and tell fans to regularly "Fuck off" and "if you don't like it, don't buy it". The other commissioners get just as much criticism on social media, they just don't respond with childish remarks and show off their cars and Las Vegas driveway snow...

Appreciate the response, Joe. I simply don't believe it's productive for a CEO to tell consumers to fuck their dollar and themselves. Maybe I'm crazy though, lol. I've been doing business with UPS and FedEx for 15+ years, and I can only imagine how well it would go over, if I told them "you don't like my product - fuck you, don't buy it. I don't give a shit." But hey, maybe MMA is a different animal and Dana can get away with that for the next 15-20 years. Me personally, I can't willingly give my money to someone with that attitude. There are too many options available out there.
If PPV's numbers are any reflection of Zuffa's popularity, consumers are either beginning to get fed up or disinterested.

Your Dana defending is admirable...or completely the opposite of admirable.
Roger Goodell doesn't promote himself as the one and only true star of his league, like Dana does out of sheer paranoia. Goodell allows the league to promote the players. He doesn't make specials on TV about himself having a QB challenge against Tom Brady to stroke his own ego.
Everything starts to turn to crap when greed gets involved. Look at the quality of food and medicine for example. Nothing wrong with trying to make a few bucks but when everyone starts to get their claws in something, it really diminishes the quality because the priorities have changed and money becomes the main goal.
