I knew Mike Perry lost the moment

He got up after his takedown mid way through the the second round. He stood up, flat footed, both hands at the hip lookin to throw heavy hands. Heavy breathing. The ground control took a lot out of his tank.

He’s got that heart, anvil chin, and charisma. It’s just not his time yet. I’d give him another year of development.

I’m a fan.

No it was a poke and the second round, imo

Nah, it was his to win when he took down Santiago the first time and couldn’t hold him there.

Dude is “top10” and could barely grapple with Perry? He should have exploited that.

Watch it again Playa' Perry took his back and balance displaced him for a moment. Ponzinibbio popped right back up.

Perry was also owned in the third on the ground as well.

What’s next for him?

gunner vs perry

ponz vs till?

Ponz Till at UFC London would suit me down to the ground

Ponz looked horrible

Gunnar-Perry would be a nice matchup…I’d like to see if Perry could keep it on the feet…

Perry is like Phil Baroni 1.5… He has better chin and cardio but his gameplan and style are identical.

He throws everything with power which is great if it KO’s guy but if not you become a punching bag

After Kamarus Usman beats Emil Meek, I'd love to see Usman and Till go toe to toe.

Agreed. Set up Perry with Gunnar. See how he fares against a ground specialist. Nelson’s stand-up is solid but he’d probably prefer not to exchange with Platinum.

hmm … ok i will run it back. thought that bake take looked sloppy on first watch.

**edit: maybe not sloppy … over-agressive. very platinum, in a good way, but not smart.

Perry looked gassed around the midpoint of the second round.

Perry’s a very tough guy with big pop and he’s still young. I think he definitely has room to improve and this was a good fight for him.

He just needs a little refining.

He lost the minute the Ref raised Ponz's hand.

Seems to me  like Platinum Mike still has a much bigger upside and Ponz looks to be peaking. He fought good, but other than those leg kicks I don’t see him going much higher or getting much better in the other departments. Platinum Mike on the other hand has all the upside in the world. If he had better conditioning and had stayed moving fairly well in the third round I think he would have stopped Ponz. Platinum Mike’s wrestling, BJJ, conditioning and even boxing still have a huge ceiling. All of Ponz’s can still get a little better, but I don’t see him getting much better. I think he’s approaching his ceiling fast. That’s not to say he didn’t look great tonight, because he did. I would love to see Platinum Mike go to a big-time camp with a trainer that will plug all these holes and push him to be better conditioned and clean up his fundamentals. If he would do that I legitimately think the guy could be champion in three or four years. As a Perry nuthugger I hope so anyway.

He’s gotten two fringe contender matchup and hasn’t passed the test either time. Not saying the jury’s out on the guy, but it clear he needs to change something if he wants to avoid being Erick Silva 1.2

Needs better cardio. As soon as he went flat-footed in the 2nd it was over outside of a bomb landing. Eye poke didn't help. Exciting fighter though. Be interesting to see what, if any, changes he makes.

Till and usman are the future of the division

it all comes down to if till can stop the takedown against him, if so he kos him... If not vicious gnp ko for usman
