Anderson Silva will destroy him and easily. He is leaps and bounds better than Belfort in every facet of the game. I don't know why Zuffa didn't build up Belfort more before feeding him to arguably the best pound for pound fighter. Does anyone disagree??
This is not to say that Belfort has no chance at all but hear people I know ("the old Vitor is back!" crowd) insisting he's going to "stun" Anderson on the feet. The same Anderson that has outclassed virtually all of his (top) opponents.

I really dont get why Vitor has leapfrogged his way to this shot.
I dont know everything about MMA, so if he has been building a fight record consistently somewhere over the last several years, my bad.
BUT why did he leapfrog other challengers and get this shot? Is it because Anderson has beaten everyone else? What makes anyone think that an old Vitor would have any sort of shot at this? I mean, I like Vitor alot and I hope he wins. I was watching the UFC when he first came on the scene and he was just awesome.
But in 2011? What exactly is going on here? Can someone please help me to understand?
I don't disagree...but this past weekend should tell you that ANYTHING can happen in the fight game. I didn't think Melvin Guillard had a snowball's chance in hell of beating Dunham, and we all know what happened now. Favorite or not, anything can happen.

MMA is one, if not, THE most inconsistent sport on this planet.
I wouldnt be suprised if Vitor ends this in a minute.
I dont put too much weight in Chael's gameplan in this one as I think Anderson didnt respect his hands and feared the takedown. He will be more focused standing for this one and I doubt there will be many takedown attempts either way.
Anderson looked awful against Sonnen, if was still at his peak I'd pick him no doubt...but I'm not sure if he's getting old or what...I won't be shocked if Vitor wins.

On the one hand he is on a 5 fight win streak. However, the best guy he beat on that list was Franklin, who got mauled by Silva. And that was waaaaayyyy back in Sept of 2009! Dude hasn't fought in almost a year and half.
So, as far as I'm concerned he's a dark horse. He might surprise us all, but odds are he'll be rusty and outclassed.

I'm still waiting for Okami to get his shot.
1) Vitor has a nice win streak going, including some at 185, his last being a finish of Franklin @ 195
2) He was supposed to fight Okami with winner getting Silva/Sonnen II. After Sonnen roided his nuts off, Vitor replaced Sonnen since there was no one else.
3) Okami gets the next shot since he beat Marquardt.
The one area where Vitor is much better than Anderson is the wrestling. I also think Vitor is the most dangerous striker Anderson has ever faced, and I DO think Vitor will connect. It will be interesting for sure!

Clueless? First of all, I was asking and fully admitted that I didnt know much about his history, so that makes you a chest beating internet homo who wants to look cool.
But after looking at Vitor's record to see if you knew what you were talking about, it appears that you dont (verifying to me and everyone else that you are in fact, a chest beating internet homosexual).
Vitor's 'streak' is comprised of 5 wins over the last ~5 years, with no fights in 2010. By that logic, I have a hell of an aging streak going, aging 5 years in the last 5 years. My point is, that is hardly a streak, especially since all but 2 of those wins are against less than stellar opponents.
So next time, you may want to save some time and effort and just type that you want to fellate Vitor.
I hope I'm wrong, but I think the fight is gonna be a snorefest with both guys looking to counter, lots of circling, measuring jabs, booing, and little action...
