I'll pick a hockey Enforcer every time

Oh yeah and btw, Derek Boogaard was not only taller then Overeem but also heavier. Phone Post

ANY MMA guy? Are you fucking kidding me?

GSP (WW) vs hockey enforcer (HW)

Kurruption - Agreed Goku,

Overeem is a tough cat and there's absolutely no denying that. Especially when compared to the average joe. I imagine you dont know much about Derek Boogaard however. Do you think the Boogey man became the most feared striker of his sport by eating pussy? I stand by my statement.

I know who he is :)

I was pointing out though that your argument is based on Boogaard having more experience in barfights. When that is not true

NHL enforcers could beat MMA fighters based on size and experience in streetfights. But size is negligable, Brett Rogers was 265lbs and Overeem threw him across the cage like he was a barbie doll. And Overeem has a lot of streetfights himself. Close quarters.. thai clinch > shirt pulling

Would i pick him 100/100? No, but majority of the time.

Well Gokudamus we seem to agree on most points then but I do want to point out I dont think Boogaard had more experience in street fights, i was simply pointing out some of the parrallels between fighting fully clothed in a tight space and fighting fully geared up in hockey equipement. Overeem must have more experience in street fights considering his upbringing. Despite that I imagine Boogaard has his fair share as well. My previous comments were probably more aimed towards the posters who eluded that Overeem coudnt lose a fight to an NHL enforcer. Obviously Allistair has the upper hand but a man of Derek Boogaard stature and skillset is capable of hurting any man. Phone Post

molsonmuscle360 - I've seen hockey enforcers that have played in the NHL and AHL get ragdolled in street fights by regular guys. There form of fighting (grabbing on and throwing) can be very detrimental when they run into a guy who either catches them with a bomb first....

The same can be said for jiujitsu and wrestling. In fact, every style of fighting can be pretty detrimental if you get hit with a giant bomb first. The point is that the good fighters tend to get there "The firstest with the mostest".

"...or have a cast iron chin" - Pretty much every hockey goon falls into that category, or they wouldn't be able to function as goons. When you see it working in hockey game on a good enforcer, it's already working on a top 1% chin. You also vastly underestimate how effective their off balancing techniques are - their holding and hitting methods are very effective at preventing their opponetns from landing effective punches.

"I've seen hockey enforcers that have played in the NHL and AHL get ragdolled in street fights by regular guys."

This sounds extremely unlikely. And if these guys were ragdolling NHL enforcers, ther is nothing regular about them. I wil concede that drunken NHL players can occasionally be sucker punched and ratpacked, ragdolled by regular guys...not so much.

The guys I have seen were still working there way up to the bigs when it happened, and sometimes they try to take that one guy in a town that everyone knows you shouldn't fuck with. But yeah, most of those enforcers do have iron chins. One of my friends got into a fight with Jon Mirasity back in high school and he must have hit Jon with at least 20 shots right on the button and he kept going. Although street fights in Saskatchewan resemble hockey fights anyway, people just grab on and throw.

knockoutfighter - This man speaks the truth

Ty Domi > any blackbelt/mid-tier MMA fighter

Keep in mind that by the time a player(goon) makes it to the NHL he likely had 100-200 fights under him. these are fights in front of a crowd and lots of time on tv as well. Once he makes it to the pro's he will likely have that many fights again before the end of his career. That doesn't count fights in training camp or practice or any training done in the off season. The biggest difference with the hockey enforcer and even a pro fighter is that the enforcer stands and trades every time. Getting hit is not an option so they are very accustomed to it and are still able to think and react while in the shit. Don't think that hockey enforcers are not trained fighters, they practice there trade as much as a goal scored practices scoring.

I know the guy HST was talking about and I would pick him in a bar over any mid level mma, kickboxing, or boxing heavy weight, especially with how bar fights get started.

Ulf is a piece of shit

Some people on here have clearly never trained with even a high level amateur, never mind the idiots on about GSP, you clearly have never seen just how much difference there is between these people and your regular tough guy. Phone Post
