What they are trying to do is take away the effectiveness of our art by backing out of demonstrating it. Demonstration is the most important part of our art. What they are doing is Kata bjj. They demonstrate that they can mimic something but they don't show that they can apply it. If our sport was to follow their lead, we would turn into taekwondo by next month.
Evil Gumby is keeping the sanctity of the sport. I salute him for what he is done. More people need to step up when they see bullshit like this happen.
I don't care if these girls are teenagers. They're claiming they can teach the art and they need to step the fuck up. Even if Gumby beat them they might have been able to demonstrate that they had some skill. But they lost that chance and now they will forever look stupid.
Their affiliation to the Gracie academy is quite hysterical. The Gracie academy was known as the place for all challenge matches.

I agree with them in the context of people hide behind computer screens and hurl insults. Most true practitioners are too busy practicing to get involved in drama that has nothing to do with them.

EvilGumby is a good dude and a legit brown belt. We used to be teammates about 6 years ago before he moved away, and have stayed in touch since then. I can guarantee that he showed up with only pure intentions of experiencing their "master cycle" class for himself, not trying to cause problems or bully on teenage girls. Bottom line is that our beloved and legit art of BJJ is being turned into some McDojo level crap for the sake of profit by unscrupulous people these days. I put the blame on both the parents of these teens for creating this situation and on Rener and Ryron for allowing this crap to happen under their name. Make no doubt about it, Rener and Ryron could both smoke me in a bjj match, as I am but a lowly purple belt. That being said, as person who loves the art of bjj and as a retired pro mma fighter who always represented bjj in the cage, I find Rener and Ryron's business practices regarding situations like these to happen shameful and disgusting. I hope Helio is rolling over in his grave if he's seeing all these CTC's and Gracie garages. If they lack the ability/willingness to prove the efficacy of their training/techniques then they have ZERO BUSINESS being instructors. MAJOR PROPS to Evil Gumby for calling out BS

They were confronted by a much bigger, stronger and skilled person, probably has choked and submitted many blue belts in the past. They used there words, de escalated the situation and everyone walked away unharmed, it was a win/win for all involved
