It's actually free show, but I'm still plugging the site b/c it's just that great. Anyway, for the Dungeon bit, check past the 37 mark or so. It's a great show all around, if you enjoy pro wrestling.
dick cardinal came up with a strategy to beat Dan Gable for larry owings. They found some flaws in Gable's game (and there weren't many) and came up with a method of exploiting it. Owings coach was a friend of Mr. Cardinal and asked for his help before the tournament. Don't know exactly what the strategy was.
The sheik supposedly wrestled for Iran in the Olympics. His Iranian army uniform was once up for auction. I've read that Gagne wanted the sheik to injure hogan in their WWF match, as Hogan left the AWA for the Wwf.
Iron Sheik is the man.
So Drew, I'm curious to hear your opinions of what Dave had to say. He is by no means the ultimate source on anything, but his views on all aspects of the business are certainly worth exploring. I wonder who was the fifth guy in the top 5 greatest guys who could go.
Just listened to the interview, specifically the 41 minute mark. I guess the best bet right now to see about the Hart hooking style is see Kieth in action kind of like Lance said.
The Hogan- Gagne situation might have been legit. When IS got busted by the police together with Hacksaw Duggan for smoking weed (this was before WWE publicly admitted it was all fixed, and IS and Duggan were fueding with each other), he mentioned in an interview that his "friend" Hogan didn't stick up for him with McMahon. Vince fired IS for that incident. IS described how when he dropped the belt to Hogan, Hogan kissed his hand backstage and thanked him profusely, saying he was in IS's debt, etc.
