“Jon Jones has put on a ton of size”

Luke Thomas did an analysis of Jones. Apparently his take down success has diminished over the years (shown in stats). Culminating in him really struggling to take Reyes down at all.

Factors. 1 Jon has declined(a bit). 2. Everyone else has gotten better.

Remember how easily Jon used to toss around guys like Brandon Vera.

I remember thinking it was a bit like the way an ant will just pick up larger insects, seemingly without any effort.

If Jones struggles to get Francis down, he is in big trouble.

I think bones is better everywhere. But huge ko power has beaten skill many times. And the fact that Jones doesn’t really have ko power with his hands will give Francis lots of confidence.

I agree. Jones actually does have good striking. His unorthodox kicks, elbows, knees, mixed up with some occasional decent jabs and straights. All in a balance and rhythm of forward pressure, with an ability to retreat, when it is needed.

However I cant see Jon KO/TKOing Francis. If he doesn’t that means he either has to go 25 minutes, or take Francis down. Tough tasks.

Bump for forum update

Good wrestling?? He took Cormier down 3 times and controlled him. If he wants to take Francis down, he will. It’s that simple.

it would be very interesting to see Francis blasting Jon’s legs, with the ever-present danger of KO punches with a swiftness. fascinated by the fight

Franky will detach Jones from Consciousness, just like he was done to just about every real HW he has faced. There’s a very good reason Jones is pricing himself out of this fight. Santos with two blown out knees gave Jones all he could handle.

He doesn’t have to takedown Francis, he has to survive long enough for Francis to allow himself to be held on the cage for 17 minutes.

Francis’s biggest weaknesses are his wrestling and cardio. Jon has to get him down and wear him down.
Problem is Francis has already shown improved wrestling and he is also learning to pace himself.
Jon’s biggest weakness is Francis’s biggest strength: his boxing.
Francis has power for days, and Jon’s biggest hole is in his boxing defense.
If Francis is smart, he will pace himself early on and let Jon do most of the work.
Use leg kicks to slow him down and open up punches to the head and body. Mixing his punch and kicking game is crucial.
I just feel like Ngannou has improved and as long as he manages his output properly, Jon’s strengths won’t be as present at HW.

He looked bigger during that powerlifting phase he had a couple of years back.

That said, I gave up on the idea of seeing Jones get his a long, long time ago. He hasn’t been the destructive force he once was for years now, but he’s just got an intangible instinct that enables him to always get his hand raised.

If worst comes to it, he’ll grind out a classic B-Hop decision.

People believe Jones is on PED’s because he has been popped on multiple occasions.

Basically, his usage has been habitual and throughout his career. Jones popped on three different occasions. Are we to believe these “three times” were the exception? His brother was also popped and there was speculation that Jones hid under the ring to avoid a test. This is more than just smoke.

Why would you believe Jones would deviate from his career routine when moving up to heavy?

I believe he’s on the sauce and putting out the fight as long as possible so he can gain muscle mass then clean out his system before testing.

On a side note, I think the last two fights were a strong indicator of Jones’s abilities without the PEDS. I don’t think it had shit do with motivation.

I’m well aware of his past failures. If he’s got some secret shit that he can micro dose and fly under the radar he’s been on it for a long time. My point is he isn’t going to fly under the radar to blast some steroids strong enough to put on a legit 10 lbs quickly. Your comment about him wanting to push the fight date out so he can let it clear out of his system makes no sense at all. This isn’t the old days where fighters only got tested the night of the fight

Testing has always been behind the latest designer PEDs but it doesn’t matter in Jones’s case. He was given a green light to take PEDs. Hell, they moved an event and provided a lame pulsing explanation to dismiss his positive result.

You asked why people thought Jones was on roids to bulk up for heavy. I provided you with the obvious answer.

That’s not speculation, he admitted it. Then he lied about why. He said he would have tested positive for weed, NSAC wasn’t testing for weed then.

Regarding everything you said about the cause of Jones’ diminished takedown abilities, I agree. Add in the fact that his legs haven’t been what they used to be. He recently commented that since putting on muscle he started working his legs more, which has significantly reduced knee pain he’s been experiencing for a long time. I expect to see a more explosive Jones.

I know you said a lot of things here but I am absolutely thrilled with your promotional prowess.

He’s looking big as hell here. More mass on his legs a lot less top heavy than I figured he’d be

He looks as soft as a pillow imo.
