What happens? Take a look at Liddell, they took care of that guy for life. It wouldn't have even mattered if Jones took that fight and lost by some miracle, because the company would have taken care of him and he would be right back with an immediate rematch.
By not taking that fight.. he's fucked himself. He did more damage to his career in not taking the fight than Liddell did in taking the fight and getting KOd.
Look Jones did the right thing, just not for his reasons. Sonnen does not deserve a title shot here. I typically agree with DW most of the time but this time i must respectfully disagree. U cannot blame Joes for the cancellation of the event. This card had no other star power on it. They bet the house on Jones' popularity to sell the card and do great numbers. Main events have been cancelled in the past but the card continues because usually there are other fights on it people want to see. This was NOT the case. Maybe Jones should have stepped up and taken the fight and I agree he was dumb not to since he probably would have steam rolled Chael since chael had 8 days to prep, but the fault lies in those that put together that card. When the fight was 1st announced i considered buying tickets and flying to Vegas. I decided against it for a couple reasons 1 being that there was only 1 real fight i was excited about.

I started watching mma around ufc 117, and i know Chuck Liddel did a whole lot more for this sport than Jon ever will. And will always be one of the best champions the UFC could ever ask for.
