Watched fight twice. Only clear rds were rd 2 for DC and rd 4 for Jones. Not much happened in rd 5 besides DC's takedown. I would give that to DC. Jones got a takedown in the first but didn't do anything with it and ate a lot of punches in the last 30 seconds of the first. But you can give that to Jones fine even though it was much closer and could be argued for DC than arguing the fifth for Jones. Fight then really depends on how you score the third which DC clearly won half the round until the eyepoke. Jones did better after the eye poke but he didn't do anything significant but could call the third a draw. If DC had gotten the win or if they called a draw I would not have argued it. It was very very close people got too carried away with the 2 takedowns in the 4th.
McGregorsTattoo - Stop.Watch the fight again. Last 30 seconds of first rd through half of third until the eyepoke DC is winning. Fourth goes to Jones with the two takedowns. Fifth was just clinching except for one takedown by DC. Could go any way.
Close, but Jones clearly won.
I thought it was close to, and I didn't have a dog in this fight. Championship rounds sucked though.
I can't see the replies.
Calavaro - Close, but Jones clearly won.You can make an argument for any outcome. No robbery in any decision in this case.
I wanted DC to win very badly but there's no way that fight felt like it could go either way. DC himself didn't even feel like he won.
R00STER - I wanted DC to win very badly but there's no way that fight felt like it could go either way. DC himself didn't even feel like he won.He put too much stock in the wrestling battle which you could say he lost. But look at it from the perspective of ten point must not the feeling of the fight as a whole. In five rds ten point must rules the fight could be decided either way or even a draw very easily.
Jones beat him fair and square stop looking for excuses and just admit he was beaten by a better fighter
jonbonesjonesfan79 - Jones beat him fair and square stop looking for excuses and just admit he was beaten by a better fighterI didn't say Jones didn't win. I said that any decision could have been valid under the rules.
Massive dc fan here, but by the end all i could hope for was a robbery

War Velasquez - Massive dc fan here, but by the end all i could hope for was a robberyI thought the same but I rewatched the fight after and Joe Rogan made way too much of a big deal over the takedownsin the fourth he acted like Jones won the fight with those takedowns. All he won was one rd. watch the fight again if you can only rounds with definitive winners are rds 2 and 4.
You're high OP. Round 1 Jones he landed the better strikes and kept Cormier at a distance. Rounds 2-3 Jones started fighting shorter and lost those two. Round four Cormier was gassed and clearly no longer in it. Round 5 Cormier looked like he was wishing he was back at the desk job. Love Cormier and he's amazing but this fight wasn't as close as a 3-2 split suggests.
I just plain disagree.
Round two to Cormier, one was the closest but the rest were clearly edged by Jones.
1,3,4, and 5 to Jones - as two of the three judges had it.
If Cormier had of got the nod it would just have been wrong.
NeilDiamond - I just plain disagree. How was rd 3 clearly for Jones? The eye poke was right in the middle of the rd about 2 min 24 sec. Up until that point DC is smashing Jon landing punches backing him up. After the eye poke Jon gets a second wind and throws a body kick and is able to fight better. But hard rd to call. I give Jon rds 1 and 4. DC rds 2 and 5 because all Jones did was coast in the clinch and got tossed. Comes down to the third which no one clearly dominated.

Fifth rd the two hugged for four minutes until DC tossed Jones. It was super close on ten point must.
My point is you could give Jones 4 rds to 1. You could give Jones 3 rds to 2. You could give DC 3 rds to 2. You could call the fight a draw with rds 1 and 4 to Jones and 2 and 5 to DC and rd 3 a draw. You can make valid arguments for all these outcomes.
This is not saying DC was robbed or Jones would have been robbed if he had lost or a draw would have been good or bad. I am saying this is an unusual cases where the ten point must system produces multiple valid outcomes that can be supported.
Ttt
I hate jones always have, DC was controlling the clinch and needed to throw more uppercuts in flurries then try and catch jones with a hook. Not sure what the fuck his corner was telling him since I was at a bar but the clinch game was working well and not sure why he strayed from that. I was really disappointed in DC giving up/gassing in the 4th. I had looked forward to this fight for so long and was so disappointed in both their performances, DC lacked heart and jones just seemed as if he was trying to not lose and try and humiliate DC when possible.
