Does anyone have a pic of his shorts? What are his sponsors?
I'm am curious to know these 3 companies paying 35k per logo.
I'm glad this thread was made.
Bellator paying more money to a fighter that could've fought for UFC is HUGE in the grand skeme of things.
If Bellator starts getting a reputation for paying better, more and more recognizable names will be on Bellator's roster.
Tito, Phil Davis, now Josh. Good job Bellator
But but Bellator is great. They love their fighters. Says every MMA hipster.

Steve Iceman Little - Does anyone have a pic of his shorts? What are his sponsors?Sure seems like a lot of money for a non title holding fighter who hasn't headlined a card in 6 years.

I mean if he has 3 sponsors at $35k each plus additional sponsors, what exactly were the other fighters complaining about when they talked about the sponsorship market collapsing?
Maybe Josh has a strong fanbase that buys his sponsor's products. That just seems like a lot of money to throw out on a fighter that isn't headlining.

Josh fought 4 times in the UFC and only once under the Reebok era. he made way more money in the UFC than Bellator.
The UFC would have had to offer more base pay to compensate for his losses in sponsors, and they said no.

tjmitch - At least in Bellator he will win fights and make a run for the title. I didn't see that happening in the UFC.He should have already been. Should have gone to the UFC with the SF title, and fought Ben Henderson.
When he did fight Ben anyway, I thought Josh won, and he did it with one hand.
GrindOnLine -Morpheus1976 - 100k for sponsors105k from his 3 biggest sponsors.
He has more sponsors.
maybe I'm reading that wrong,
"He said that three sponsors alone are paying him more than $35,000 for his Bellator debut and there are more to come."
I think that would mean $35,000 total not each. I only say this because he said he was making up to $90,000 during his best run, he was then cut down to a total of $5,000 (reebok). I don't think he was trying to say he is making more than $90,000 now or he would have stated that. I am happy for him one of my favorite guys to watch.
Omar Comin - Pretty sure that means all 3 combined sponsors equal 35k total, not individually.
sorry, I didn't see your post so I guess I stated ruffly the same thing vu

Didn't Josh Thomson state his reason for going to Bellator over UFC was he had ability to earn more fighting for Bellator?
I think you are thinking I am comparing base pay to base pay, but I'm not. Thomson went where he could make the most money, which is Bellator. If Bellator can be known as a promotion where you can get paid more than UFC, this is Huge as in just a year or 2 Bellator will be an actual competitor of UFC.
Brendan Schaub was making $100,000 in sponsorship money per fight (proven to be fact on an episode of the Joe Rogan podcast where Joe asked Brendan to provide proof of said amount, which he did) prior to the Reebok deal. For someone like Josh to go from matching his fight salary with sponsorship monies to only making $5,000 per fight is a big deal. I don't believe he's only being paid 10k per fight in Bellator, but the fact that he might be getting paid that amount and still taking home more money than he did fighting for the UFC with the new Reebok deal in place is pretty pathetic.
Josh is a Stanford grad, he did what was best for him lol, I'm sure he didn't leave money on the table anywhere

That's what I find humorous about some of the sponsors. The decals are so small you can't even tell what they are. Talk about brand recognition.

“There’s significant money on the table that Bellator offered me,” he said. “It was more than the contract that they UFC offered me.”

Thomson made $35,000 in sponsors for Bellator 142, 7 times more than Reebok deal
Thomson told me last week that three of those sponsors alone paid him more than $35K for this fight. Only made $5K from Reebok in the UFC

You're saying "Good job Bellator" as if they should be applauded for only paying a well known veteran $10k a fight out of their own pocket.
Every major promotion out there other than the UFC allows fighters to get sponsors so Bellator haven't actually done anything other than somehow convince Josh that because he can get sponsors they don't need to pay him a decent salary.
I think there's probably more to this story and he will be getting paid more than is documented here, but as things stand you have to have seriously blinkered vision to think this makes Bellator look good.
This just came out within the hour from MMA Junkie
“The walkouts, the whole presentation – it has that PRIDE feel,” Thomson told MMAjunkie Radio about his appearance at this past Saturday’s Spike-televised “Bellator 142: Dynamite” event at SAP Center in San Jose. “If you look at all the exciting fights they did and the relationship with (Nobuyuki) Sakikibara for a new Japanese fighting organization, I think it’s going to be huge. From when I signed the contract to once we got there, it’s just a totally different feel.
“(Bellator light heavyweight) Phil Davis touched on it a little bit; you just feel rejuvenated. There’s something different when you show up to the venue, when you show up to the host hotel, and it just feels better. There’s not, I don’t want to call it negative energy, but you just feel relaxed and comfortable, like family.”
How about the above post? Does THAT make Bellator look better? lol
If only you could've waited 2 minutes to post.
Yes, I stand by my previous sentiments which is "good for Bellator" to be able to snatch up top talent, and let it be known that fighters can have more money making opportunities fighting for them, than UFC.
