Bellator paying more money to a fighter that could've fought for UFC is HUGE in the grand skeme of things.
If Bellator starts getting a reputation for paying better, more and more recognizable names will be on Bellator's roster.
Tito, Phil Davis, now Josh. Good job Bellator
Josh fought 4 times in the UFC and only once under the Reebok era. he made way more money in the UFC than Bellator. The UFC would have had to offer more base pay to compensate for his losses in sponsors, and they said no.
Didn't Josh Thomson state his reason for going to Bellator over UFC was he had ability to earn more fighting for Bellator?
I think you are thinking I am comparing base pay to base pay, but I'm not. Thomson went where he could make the most money, which is Bellator. If Bellator can be known as a promotion where you can get paid more than UFC, this is Huge as in just a year or 2 Bellator will be an actual competitor of UFC.
Bellator doesn't pay more than the UFC.
The UFC could have just gave Josh a 50k/50k contract to compensate for his sponsors, but coming off 3 losses in a row they didn't see the interest. The UFC base pay is 10/10 and 90% of the fighters under the UFC make way more than that, that number will only grow now that sponsors are gone.
UFC can sign anyone if they wanted, Josh even wanted to resign with them despite sponsors, so it's obvious where he wanted to stay.
Steve Iceman Little - Does anyone have a pic of his shorts? What are his sponsors? I'm am curious to know these 3 companies paying 35k per logo.
That's what I find humorous about some of the sponsors. The decals are so small you can't even tell what they are. Talk about brand recognition.
I sure as shit don't remember who the sponsors were.
I've always wondered how sponsors justified paying that much for 15 minutes or less of screen time for a logo that most people won't remember much less associate their product with the logo.
I'm no marketing wiz but I see these marketing fails frequently in MMA.
Yes, I stand by my previous sentiments which is "good for Bellator" to be able to snatch up top talent, and let it be known that fighters can have more money making opportunities fighting for them, than UFC.
In other words they have let it be known that fighters can now make less of a salary at Bellator than they would have six months ago before the UFC sponsorship deal.
Neil McCauley - On an unrelated note, he came out to rappin 4 tays players club. That was awesome.
That is fucking DOPE! I haven't heard that song in forever! I plan on watching the Bellator event tonight, I have only heard that Thomson wins in the 3rd and that Tito dominated the first 4 minutes and then got caught. I am shocked I haven't been more spoiled than that.
I'm going to listen to rapin 4 tay right now. That dude is old school.
It's worth keeping in mind that Cole Miller came out in the media a couple of years ago stating that he was having trouble scraping together $3500 in sponsors for fights in the UFC. People need to realize that $100k or $90k per fight in sponsors was probably not the norm. I imagine it varies a lot depending on where you are on the card, and what medium your fight is broadcasted on.

For sure bro. It Brought back some memories from when i was about 15 that i had completely forgot. Its amazing how music can do that for you. I read they are using music to help give memories back to alzeimers patients so it makes sense.
Good point. Maybe he was comparing it to the UFC offering him nothing, which would make it much more lucrative.
If u think he only made 10k , u need help
Isn't that what is always said in UFC threads too?
It always gets shot down.
"no way he made that little he made more" - gets shot down by UFC haters "He got a huge signing bonus" - gets shot down "but they got locker room bonuses" - no they didn't ufc is too cheap.
But when it comes to Bellator its reversed. "No way he only got 10k" - yeah your probably right, everyone agrees.
Signing bonuses? Potential future ppv dollars if he becomes a champ. Contracts are structured over multiple fights so maybe he got payed little because he didn't want an extended contract. A 1 fight contract probably pays a lot less than a multi fight contract.

Where are all these PPV dollars? Bellator isn't going to be PPV's anymore.
