That coaching was trash. They came in with basically no game plan and then in the final round when Justin’s down 4 rounds he’s telling Justin to pick his shots! What a fucking tard.
How is that going to support him and his family for 50 years??
People talk about it flippantly but its pretty fucked up exiting an MMA career where you took permanent body and brain damage and dont have financial freedom
His career was his choice. You’re not going to make a lot of money unless you make it to the very top, which is rare, and you are very likely going to put your brain and body through the ringer. His career was a lot more exciting than most.
That’s why this situation was so fucked up. Even Max said it that there was no upside for Justin and it went all up for Max and all down for Justin. He deserved his shot with Islam. He prob gets taken down and subbed within 2 but still had a chance. He would not get boxed up like he was against Max even though Islam is now a top level striker, diff styles.
Yeah we got this legendary moment but for Max.
One of the weirdest and most unfortunate sequences of match making ever imo with now Dustin getting the shot. Love Dustin and I get that Arman and likely Max would hop in in less than 2 months for the next title fight but Justin smokes Dustin and then gets smoked by Max meanwhile Dustin gets the shot.
He could make 250k a year with zero risk off of that, more with minor risk. More than most people will ever make in “retirement”. Problem is he would need to move out of Hawaii to reduce expenses. He could ride some other opportunities and sponsorships for awhile.
Next problem is that he is probably used to spending much more. That’s why these guys never quit until it’s too late
Why was he not telling him to cripple him with leg kicks? I think some of these people are good in spite of Whitman, not because of. His cornering vs rose in some fights was ridiculous too.
A guy with a fresh broken nose, minutes after getting KOed at the buzzer of a five round fight. He’s exhausted, still dazed, his sinuses are smashed to pieces.
You can’t really make any long term proclamations based on that clip.
No doubt about what you are saying, it is too early to make an assessment.
The Dad/Big Brother in me is wondering if this is the beginning of his decline. Similar to what has happened with Ferguson, BJ, Diego, Wineman, Chuck, etcetera.
Hopefully, I am wrong, and things work out for JG. Either way I am a huge fan of this warrior.
