Ken Florian at lightweight

Not a lightweight aside from Sherk that Ken Florian can not beat.

time to recognize him as elite.

"Not a lightweight aside from Sherk that Ken Florian can not beat."

Tyson Griffin?

'Tyson Griffin?'

Of all names.

yes Ken "the peoples champ" Florian could beat him to.

recognize the greatness of Florian.

ttt for one of the elite fighters of the sport. Ken "the peoples champ" Florian.

his kicks were fine, Sherk wanted no part of them.

Im sorry but looking for a cut stoppage is not the only way elite guys look to win their fight

he looked for submissions, and he looked for the KO but Sherk wanted nothing to do with the stand up. If Sherk is just going to take him down and work the control game yawn Florian would be a fool to not look to pop him with a few bows.

you will find very few lightweight capable of giving Sherk a fight like that. bow down.

I have never been a fan of Kens and I never will. That being said he did show some solid skills (and some cheap tactics as well).

kenny impressed me.

Bow Down???? To what??? Some one who chooses to be a one dimensional fighter who looks to cut and run and hopes the doc stops the fight?

The fight with Karalexis was on the fence, Ken-elbow was having rectum handed to him and he threw a BLIND( his eyes were completely shut!) elbow! Pure luck it landed and where it did to stop the fight. Alex was cut and Kenny ran away to allow the ref to see it. Is that the elite fighter we should bow down to?

My judgement....um, no...

"Bow Down???? To what??? Some one who chooses to be a one dimensional fighter who looks to cut and run and hopes the doc stops the fight"

Kenny is every bit a well rounded fighter. what the fuck more do you want from him. he was contantly going for submissions, he was there to stand which Sherk wanted nothing to do with. If anyone was a one dimensional fighter it was Sherk. You will find out over the next few Sherk fights, that you have taken last nights performance of Florians for granted. very few at lightweight can give Sherk that kind of fight.

bow down.

"He needs to learn to sprawl and not throw crappy kicks. "

On what basis are you saying this? What are your credentials?

Those body kicks looked good to me.

"He was dominated for 5 rounds, I don't see how that makes him an elite fighter. What elite fighters has he beaten?"

Only taking a guy who was rated top 3 at 170 for the last few years to the distance. Giving Sherk a guy who was supposed to run him over all he could handle. for the most part never was put in any real danger for that 5 round fight. Showed he was game on the feet, and an arsenal full of submissions. Sherk's wrestling is the best at lightweight, including guys in Pride. very few will be able to have their way taking Florian down like Sherk. Very few will be able to hang in there with Sherk like Florian was able to.

Florian's win over Stout showed he is the real deal. Those who have followed Stouts career know how impressive that win was. his performance last night further proves he is no joke and a threat to anyone else in the division.

I think Florian won the last round, personally. He landed several body kicks and had a couple decent sub attempts. Sherk had no offense at all in that round.

I think Joe Stevenson could do what Sherk did to him, though, and possibly finish him, as I think Joe is more aggressive with elbows and submissions than Sherk usually is.

I would also pick Yves over Kenny for sure, and Pulver as well.

I would say Florian is elite at LW in the UFC. Good BJJ and good striking along with being simply a tough guy who can take a beating

He's too one-dimensional to ever become a worthy champion. If, on a lucky day, he ever won a championship it would be because of a cut.

Not one dimensional at all actually. He's able to fight anywhere. Submissions, striking, and actually pretty strong at lightweight and generally will not be over powered very often. Sherk was considered a power house at 170, never mind 155, so being out wrestled by Sherk or over powered by Sherk shows no weakness there at all.

to call Florain one dimensional is flat out assinine.

His wrestling might be elite compared to the average guy, but it is clearly below the UFC norm. You can't win championships from your back.

Coming from a guy with your writing skills - or lack thereof - that sounds exceedingly harsh.

Sherk has the best wrestling in the division. Aside from maybe Stevenson, there are very few at light weight who will have an easy time outwrestling Florian for an entire fight, and who the fuck said anything about winning championships. You dont have to win a championship to be considered elite in your weight class.

could be better, could be worse. good enough for an mma board. in other words, you are a tool.
