The way to beat Chuck was to absorb the punch and counter him on his way out. It is the one thing Page has always been good at doing. It is also why taller fighters give 'Page trouble. As for their 2 fights, Chuck partied too much in SLO before PRIDE. That isn't the only reason he lost, as I pointed out that due to the styles I think that it would have been a tough battle to win for Chuck as is, the partying just didn't help. It also led him to believe that the 2nd fight would go differently. But the downhill slide had already started.
We saw what happened to Chuck when he went against Rampage. Jones got the "best Rampage ever" according to Rampage himself, and dispatched him with ease.
As Gus has shown, you don't need to be world class to stay on your feet against Jones. Chuck was a very solid wrestler who used technique to keep the fight standing. I don't doubt that in his prime, he would walk through Jones' punches. What remains to be seen is can Jon take a real punch from a beast. We will see how he does taking Glover's punch and that should give us an answer.

Put this in perspective. Lyoto is a great counter puncher and when he knocks u out its because of his timing and accuracy. He timed and nailed Jones perfectly on the chin a couple of times and he didn't drop or hurt him. I don't think Jones gets much credit for his chin but he does have a solid one so far.

When Shogun beat Chuck he was in his prime and apparently when Jones destroyed Shogun and took the title Shogun was past his prime even though he was the champ. So Gus was in his prime when he fought Jones and apparently he won but for some reason Jones got to hang onto the belt. So when Jones fights Gus again will Gus be past his prime if he loses again or if he wins will that mean that he is finally in his prime, but was not in his prime when he fought Jones the first time?
Its really cool how all you have to do is use the magic word "prime" and you can sway anything in your direction. Here is the reality like it or not. Jones is the champ, and has been the champ. The one and only loss is because he was beating someone's ass so bad that the ref made a stupid call and disqualified him.
