machida choked cold (gif)

epic

A girl I work with asked me if Bruce Lee could have been a UFC champion if he was alive, and in his peak fighting shape. I said possibly at 135lbs or 145lbs. She thought he could have been like an absolute UFC/MMA champ. I told her no, because there exists a man by the name of Jon Jones. I also mentioned A. Silva, but she though Lee could actually hang with him.

Just to be sure she got the point, I told her of Jon Jones.

 Very nice

nomad1974 - Now Ill admit there have been several fights ive missed over the years. But can someone show me 1 fight where a guy gently laid his opponent down after he choked him out? Thanks in advance.
Exactly.  You can't reason with these idiots.

WOW WHAT A BUTTHOLE!!! HE COULD HAVE AT LEAST OFFERED LYOTO A PILLOW!!!!!!!! WHAT A JERK!!!!!!!!

-90% of the panzees on the UG

JESK - Jones said he knew machida was out. He didn't have to drop him like that. <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

It's not like he held the choke for too long after the ref called it. In the gif, Machida lands on his butt first, then falls to his face. How was Jones supposed to do it? I've never seen a fighter gently and politely let go of a sub. If someone's trying to knock you out, wouldn't feel a little good to drop his sleeping body to the floor and walk away?
not that i disagree or think bones is a jerk-face but this is an awesome video.  its about as polite and gentle a choke-out as you'll ever see.

Didn't Ebersole say the Guillotine was a myth? or maybe just for him?

Lyoto JUST missed landing his own punch right there that would have put Jones on his ass. Fight really could have gone either way. I hope Machida can work his way back up to a rematch.

reminded me of the condit/hardy fight a little bit.

Why do people always brings up shit that could have happened but didn't?

During the fight Goldberg mentioned that a Machida punch missed by an inch and Rogan said something to the effect of "He can miss by an inch or a mile, it's the same thing".

People use the fact that Machida THREW A PUNCH THAT DID NOT CONNECT to try to convince themselves that Jones isn't as good as people make him out to be.

Jones and Machida both threw big punches and guess what? Jones' punch landed and knocked Machida on his ass, Machida's didn't do a damn thing.

I love Machida, he is my second favorite fighter at LHW, but he was never close to winning the fight. He won the first round by a slim margin when Jones was playing Machida's game. Jones went out in the second round and adjusted and dominated just like he has against everyone else.

O and everyone complaining about Jones not letting Machida down gently...here ya go:

Miller did the same thing Jones did, the only difference is that his opponent did not fall the way Machida did. Also, I am pretty sure Christian Morecraft dropped McCorkle on his ass after choking him with a standing guillotine also.

Why bring it up? Because the punch was a couple milliseconds behind landing right on Jones' chin and that tells me Machida had a decent chance at winning the fight; it just didn't go his way. MMA involves a lot of randomness and it's interesting to see that play out right in front of you. If you don't find it useful or insightful to think in those terms then don't bother... Some people do.

I doubt machida would have sat jones down lightly. I've never heard such bitching and moaning over a great fight card. I wanted machida to win but jones made me a fan last night. That was bad ass.

Lawler vs Lindland if I recall...

Play til the whistle. And since when is their proper etiquette in how you end fight. Wtf ? Should he have laid down a pillow for him? Why didn't machida catch rashad when he koed him????? You guys are ridiculous . Phone Post

Great job on all the quality gifs unfilter!
