Machida's account of Negotiations with UFC

nobody is at fault,2 sides didnt agree, thats all there is to it

However,Dana has every right to take this into consideration when Machidas contract is up

All you morons need to stfu. If Lyoto took the fight on short notice and Rashad laid on him for 3 rounds Dana would be walking around talking how Lyoto better get another win soon or they're going to cut him for being 1-3 in his last four. Or you can bet your britches that Dana would say his next contract is going to be less because he has a bad record.

Lyoto was right to ask for more money to step in on short notice, just not Anderson Silva type money.

ttt

who cares if he asked for anderson money? shit, it's short notice and he is a top fighter already. for short notice, he deserves anderson money.

Uhh no. They are not more relaxed.
Whoever lost that fight was gonna get cut.... and that's exactly what happened.

Mike Brown didn't get cut . . .

I think he made the right choice by not fighting but it was handled wrong. It doesnt matter if Dana is right or wrong, he is your boss, so dont piss him off, he has a solid track record of holding grudges.

"I hope the UFC won’t harm me. It’s gotta be 100-percent with me and them."

- Speaking exclusively to Sherdog.com.

Hmmm.

It's not good that he says, "I hope UFC doesn't harm me" because he knows that Dana has a history of holding things against fighters, which is really sad.

Lyoto shouldn't be punished for not taking the fight. It was a risky fight for him, especially if he had to immediately come to the US like he claims and couldn't have a comfortable training camp on short notice, and he wanted to make sure he got paid. I don't see how that makes him a bad person.

buckshot44 - Fighters need to fight.. can't stand all the dick tucking going on these days.

Are you a fighter?

How dare he ask for more money. He should've fought for free to appease the baldfather, and then afterwards when he gets discarded like a piece of garbage he should kiss his hand for getting so many wonderfull opportunities. The nerve of some people.

rhoadspga - There are a bunch of ignorant 'tards posting in here. What in all of this makes Dana such an ass? That he said Machida was asking for AS $$??? HE WAS!! Dana didn't make that up, Machida confirmed it!! And had Dana paid it, for one he'd be doing it to please fans with a great fight, but two - you same idiots would be bitching that Machida shouldn't make as much as AS because he hasn't accomplished what AS has!! Should Charlie Batch make the same as Tom Brady because the starter got hurt and the coach needs him to play??

Not to mention everyone commending Machida for holding out, needing a full camp because of professionalism and 3 weeks notice to fight the #2 isn't enough time, etc. BS!!! Had Dana agreed to the $, he would've fought!! It was a money issue, not professionalism, not principle, not anything else. Why can't people ever see things how they are and not how they wish them to be?!?!

how about that Dana blabbed about salary negotiations like a 12yo schoolgirl?

Dana comes out and says: "Lyoto asked for Anderson Silva Money"

Then..."Lyoto would never say that, it isnt in his character, he had too much BUDO!" -The UG

Machida : "We asked to get paid like Anderson Silva"

The UG: " It's Dana's Fault anyways"

No one said he was going to fight for free, jackwad.
But to ask for Anderson Silva's Paycheck is a bit out there.
Machida isnt the title holder, and certainly isnt Anderson Silva.
He fights for his contracted rate, and Im sure Dana would have given him a decent locker room bonus.

The surest way to not get with your way with Dana and the UFC is to make substantial, overblown monetary demands.

See Dan Henderson (the situation actually worked out better for him though, so good move by Hendo)

you miss my point 'jackwad'

I swear sometimes it is like people on here don't have a shred of common sense lol.

Of course he is going to want a ton of cash to fight one of the most dangerous lhws on short notice...

And it sounded like the kicker was that he was going to have to set up shop in the U.S.

Lyoto is a top 5 fighter with everything to lose. It isn't worth the risk when he could come back fully prepared and smash just about anyone.

He wanted a ton of cash.
He didnt get it.

I understand the reasoning for asking it, but completely understand the reasoning for him not getting it as well.

Its a fine line, you ask for a ton of money to take a short notice fight, and potentially dont get the fight because of your demands.
