Marcelo wins ADCC (again)!!

taps Leo vieira with triangle from mount!

on his website he teaches how to close the triangle from mount using NO hands, even with them stocky legs.

if any are interested in learning those moves, including guillotine techs ofcourse, use the promo code "biggy" and get a free week! Phone Post

I gotta go with Marcelo as the best grappler of the past decade. Of course there are other candidates like Roger, but my vote goes to Marcelo.

and if u watched him over this weekend and in the mundials, he really does teach and demonstrate all his moves on his website Phone Post

Why exactly is he not doing the absolute "weight" class?

He said in the past he doesn't like getting smashed by the big guys and getting/risking injury. Phone Post

I read a stat, in ADCC out of Marcelo's 27 wins, 24 by sub

but he has also said in the past that his style works better against people bigger than him and that he has more trouble against smaller opponents (super flexible and fast).

as much as I would have loved to see Marcelo in the absolute he made the right decision not to compete.

I think he has the record for all-time most points scored too.

Only 3 he didn't sub. Nice.

I think they were Renzo, Leo Santo, and Kron.

I disagree. Galvao just won the absolute and just how many times has Marcello beaten Galvao... In fact Marcello has beaten most of the people who participated in this years absolute.

Are full results up anywhere? I wasn't able to get the stream Phone Post

As much as I love Marcelo assuming he was going to beat Galvao just because he has in the past is not really a good assumption. I think everyone can agree this is a very different Galvao we are seeing this past year. After Marcelo won the mundials this year he said he doesn't do the absolute because he feels hes getting older and his body isnt quite up for it like it use to be. I think its wise to try and stay out of the absolute to keep your body healthy so you can continue dominating your division.

Marcelo beat Galvao when they were the same weight Galvao has out on a good amount of weight and is a technical beast as well. Not saying Marcelo can't beat him now just saying I think Galvao would have a better chance now than then Phone Post

It's all hypothetical, but I think Andre was very sharp this year. He also looks completely different not having to cut weight. Even in 2009, he did very well making the finals at 88kg without much training. I think he would have had a very good chance of beating Marcelo if they had fought this year. He was in great shape and trained incredibly hard for this ADCC.

Marcelo is great no doubt, but to call him the best in this decade I think thats a stretch. Every one has their own opinion. Roger by land slide, but again thats my opinion.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here but all this Marcelo love all the time gives me stomach ache.
