Mario Sperry 272-0?

Kirik - Before there was any record keeping, promoters would ask a fighter to guess at some combined fight sport record, so you got some kind of crazy numbers from some of the top names in the game. Was a different time, and d=not really fair to compare to now.

Agreed, In one of the early UFC's there was a dude named Andy Anderson, he was 99-0 in bareknuckle fighting and all wins came by KO. LOL at this. I think he fought Tank Abbott and got his face punched off and should therefore be 99-1.

If I remember correctly, Rudyard Moncayo was billed as undefeated on those Extreme Fighting shows despite having already lost in the UFC.

great shows

^ He posts here all the time.

He wasn't in Igor's guard, he was either in side control or mount, can't remember which.
I am literally watching it right now, Mario got kneed in the face when shooting for a takedown and landed in his half guard then tapped.

Yeah they have him listed as undefeated.

seen it 30 times including on ppv. i never thought he was tapping out, though it may have been a tap-like motion

He wasnt. He was mentally overwhelmed and did a random pointless act.

ohferfuxsakes -  ...and that record came to a crashing halt when a russian decided to knee the fuck out of his head...i remember it vividly.

on his knees...blood check...tap.

Oh yeah, I remember that fight...  He completely punked out over a little blood...

Bry Bry - i for one loved the Extreme Fighting shows..sure, the production was shit but i enjoyed Perettis brutally honest fightcalling and the matchups were ahead of their time...

i was pissed when Ralph Gracie punked out against Eugenio Tadeu in extreme fighting 4..

I believe Eugenio waited too long to get his visa.

I worked with Rudy at the time. I very much remember how they listed him as 7-0 even though he had famously gotten beaten down by Pat Smith in the UFC. Pat Smith hit him with that nice flying push pick right at the opening bell.

xcouturefan - I remember ordering that show as a kid.

It was supposed to take place in Brooklyn but was moved a few days before because of political pressure.
I actually had tickets for the brooklyn show, real paper tickets.... got the word that the show was cancelled and got a refund on my CC, then probably threw the tickets out!!!!   i'd bet they would be worth something to a hardcore collector now   :(

naderhood -  Its pretty funny watching this video. The production is shit and Mr T is the backstage interviewer but you cant hear any sound. You also can see the commentators talking as they look into the camera Rogan and Goldie style but their sound is silent as well.

I know we all complain about the crowds booing and being pretty retarded when it comes to watching fights, but these old crowds from the early events are absiolutely brutal. If a punch isnt thrown every 2 seconds they start booing. When Carlson Gracie Jr fights some unknown guy, the guy comes out with his hands wrapped and the ref cuts it off before he starts the fight and somebody in the crowd yells out "Cheater!". People start yelling stuff back and forth in the crowd and then some chick yells at the Gracies "Go back to Mexico!".....LOL gotta love them late 80's early 90's white trash bishes.

some unknown guy= John Lewis

Andy (a good guy, who posts here from time to time) fought Jon Hess, not Tank. Hess was one of the dirtiest fighters and most unpleasant people from the early days of MMA, and was later on the receiving end of a spectacular and very satisfying beating from Victor Belfort in Hawaii - you can see it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ0tUbwjKVs

Andy just went to prison for a very long time... sad because the dude was an early supporter and bank-roller!

Yeah, I meant unknown at the time Vs the well known Gracies. John Lewis was athletic as hell. Also was/is the inventor of Sect Jiu Jitsu? WTF is Sect Jiu Jitsu?

Loved those videos!

Naked strippers as DVD extras

John Lewis fought in his Calvin Klein underwear, WTF?
