Style Wars 2005
12/10/2005
My first MMA fight (edit: forgot to mention this fight was pancrase rules!). Was excited to get in there and get r' done. Hope to get video up of the fight if I can find someone who took video :( If anyone has pics or video please let me know! :)
My opponent was Cade Bruzell. Not too sure about his experience or training but he was a tough dude! My gameplan was to take it to the ground and submit him but he didn't want any of it and I ended up just being comfortable throwing down with him. He got some nice leg kicks on me (still sore...) and I got some on him. I kind of froze up and didn't shoot any double legs AT ALL, like I wanted to do. It was ruled a draw! Better than a loss but it would have been nice if I would have put my gameplan to work better and done what I had planned to do, but like one of my coaches Sean Sherk says: "Experience is the greatest teacher"! I broke my hand (well, Cade broke my hand lol) blocking a high kick. Needs surgery and a metal plate and screws, see x-ray below! Will be weeks before I can resume training I'm guessing... :(
Blue Hair ;) they call me pappa smurf, baby yeah!
Evading his long legs and kicks
Getting inside and landing one
instructions from swish-mail
Should have locked up this choke and pulled guard
Landing a Knee ;)
I hope I blocked that kick he's about to throw!
it was a battle
We both look surprised?
Very Proud of This!
5th Metacarpal Bone on the left. yes it hurts lol
Ready to go again, nahhh need to heal first!
I was super proud to have received the "Most Heart and Fighting Spirit Award". Thanks to The great corner I had, Saul Mitchell, Adam Clary and Ishmael Bentley. Thanks to My coaches Sean Sherk, Greg Nelson, Nat Mcyntire, Ishmael Bentley and all my training partners! Thanks to www.txmma.com for hooking it up with training gloves and the fight shorts which I tried out in the fight, will give a review soon Arclight (Paul)! Thanks to all my friends and family who supported me and rooted me on! Thanks to Kaitlin, Jeffrey and Kai for Picture credits! Now it's time to heal, catch y'all later!
0-0-1 Amateur MMA (I know we didn't HAVE to keep this on our record but with the broken hand and all I feel it was a real enough fight to count for something!)
