My parents are proud to have a son who doesn't need to announce his "good deeds" to the world.
Again, many of us give time and money to charity. We simply feel humbled by giving, and think that giving is a good thing in itself.
We give because that's the right thing to do, not because we view it as a way to draw publicity or attention to ourselves.
Are you NOT aware this was an MMA related effort that involved more than just Rara?

And Mick, I'm going to apologize to you for the way I responded to your insult to Rara. You were 100% wrong (and you owe Rara an apology, IMO) but I reacted with a not-so-well thought out comment because you pissed me off.

You visit some really sick kids. And the first thing you could think of is yourself. And then some wonder why "assholes" like me don't think the visit was altruistic. Or that this thread's goal was anything other than to draw attention to yourself.
They ARE her pics.
How would you have titled the thread if the pics were yours?

Cindy, not to split hairs*, but I think "My Shriners Hospital visit for Fighting4Kidz pics" would be an incredibly confusing sentence if the "my" is intended to refer to just the pics. ;)

There is selfish intent in everything we do as humans. Even if we give to charity in silence it makes US feel good about ourselves. Even if Rara went down to the children's hospital so she could post picture of herself with sick kids in order to boost her image (which I don't believe was her motivation) the point is that she took positive action. There are some charities out there that are scams and some that actually do harm. But we are talking about sick kids in a hospital! So some fighters and a girl go down there and give them some free stuff and spend time with them and it makes them feel better. This is a positive thing and should be encouraged, not discouraged. There is a huge connection between having a happy and positive frame of mind and the body's immune system. Also being in a hospital can be very boring. Let people feel good about doing good things and at least it reinforces positive behavior in our society. They did something more productive than I did this weekend.
And BTW I posted this because it made ME feel good to support something positive because I am selfish too ;)
