Not saying these guys would beat Silva, but they're the most interesting match ups based on the way they fight IMO, this is at 185, 205 opens up way more choices of course
1. Mousasi - The only guy at 185 that would not be scared to stand with Silva and has the skills to match him, Mousasi fights at 205, but really shoudnt and says he would fight 185 again, this is the match up I would most like to see in MMA right now, Mousasi has never been dropped and has hung with K-1 HW's, the guy is highly skilled and is super calm, And1's juking and jiving wouldnt bother him
2. Jacare - The most dynamic and explosive BJJ guy in the world right now, he isnt Maia or Thales who don't have the takedowns and are not athletic like Jacare, he has the takedowns and bjj to sub anyone in the world, only issue is he has been 'chinny' in the past and Silva can put his lights out quickly
3. Sonnen - Easy match to make, basically Chael blew what would be one of the greatest wins ever by letting his guard down and getting triangled...again, Silva had bad ribs, which explains a lot, I don't see Sonnen pulling off another performance like that again, but he will get a shot I assume
4. Hendo - He won the first round against Silva, than started standing and wanging, got caught and choked out, Dan would have to be disciplined enough to stick to takedowns, top control, wall and stall, etc...to win it, he has the skills, the fight would be better at 205 for Dan, but he wants this rematch and will do it at 185
5a. Palhares - Match up wise, he has a strong chance against Silva, he has takedowns and a nasty heel hook, if he slaps that on Silva he will wish it was Chonan at the end of his leg again, Palhares might take that thing home and put it over his fireplace
5b. Lombard - An oxe, strong with world class judo, bjj black belt, hits like a truck and has the chin needed to surivive, he won't stand with Silva though, he didnt want to stand with Alexander. Has a chance to decision Silva with takedowns and good sub defense, his cardio would probably fail him though in the later rounds, but I would love to watch
" he isnt Maia or Thales who don't have the takedowns"
Maia has taken down everyone he's ever fought except Marquardt (he was KO'd in the opening seconds) and Anderson. He took down top wrestlers Sonnen and Munoz.
"Hendo - He won the first round against Silva, than started standing and wanging,"
He made three attempts to take down Anderson in the second, one being a full body lock against the cage for a good minute, and had no success.
Jones, Shogun, GSP, Jacare, Sonnen.
1) and 2) would never happen.. 1) Mousasi is never going back to 185 and actually thinks will hit HW at one point (don't see how)... 2) Jacare trains with Anderson-- I'm surprised you know who Jacare is, yet you don't know they train together and are friends
Hawkeye02 - While I think you're on the right track, your pick for top dog to stand and trade is a bit off. There is only one man who stands a chance against Anderson standing...that man is Cung Le. Doubt all you want, but styles make fights. Cung has the wrestling and Sanshao to take Anderson down if he got in trouble. Cung also has that fancy style, that could turn the tables on Anderson. Ask TWAS, Cung Le is the man to beat Anderson.
Cung Le... Rofl
I know there friends, but the thread is about who is an interesting match up, I don't see lombard fighting him either with being in bellator
and1? i like it
Bumpy Johnson - and1? i like it
That's been my nickname for him for awhile, fits perfectly
i'd like to see Lombard fight Silva
Jacare, Mousasi, and Hendo are the only ones at 185 that stand a chance right now.
Hendo seems to be staying at 205. Jacare is a training partner, so maybe Mousasi will get in there eventually.
Chael is gonna get smashed in a remtach.
I would love to see Cung Le against Anderson silva.
honestly dont see any of them beating silva short of Chael.
Crazy I know but you also have to understand the mental aspect of just knowing your going to fight the Champ, half of his opponents are scared shitless of him (with good reason) chael really was the only one dumb/brave/crazy enough to go full blast at him with the one martial art Anderson ISN'T superior or at least extremely proficient in, which is wrestling.
His BJJ is more than sufficient to defend against Jacare, Lombard wouldn't stand a fucking chance and PaulHarris would get eaten alive the same way Hendo beat his ass
Souza, Lombard, Shields, Bones, and GSP (not in that order obviously)
- Tito
You mean the fight where he completely destroyed keith? Yeah, he was awful...
GSP
Hendo
Mir (just to show he can beat HW's.
Shogun/Rampage/Rashad
Jones
I really wanna see Palhares fight him. I think he is crazy enough to beat him. You can tell he is an emotional fighter which can be good, and bad.
orcus - "<span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: small; "> he isnt Maia or Thales who don't have the takedowns"
Maia has taken down everyone he's ever fought except Marquardt (he was KO'd in the opening seconds) and Anderson. He took down top wrestlers Sonnen and Munoz.
"Hendo - He won the first round against Silva, than started standing and wanging,"

that just proves Maia wasnt the guy to get Silva down and really use his BJJ, Jacare is much more explosive with his TD's, and from watching his MMA and grappling career you can tell he is better than Maia, he is just a better athlete
I'm a huge Jacare fan but the gap in his striking will get him KO'd in the first round.
Until Jacob!
