Thanks for the link.

"Kal: Who, or what, was the single biggest influence of your MMA career?

Randy Couture: I don?t know if there really was a ?who or what.? I met a lot of guys in the course of my career who influenced me significantly. Early on, it was Rico Chipperelli and Eric Paulson. In the middle there was John Donahue and Mo Smith. They had a great influence on me. I learned a lot of stuff from them. I think the biggest thing was the sport in general. It motivated me to come up and put myself out there while learning new skills and challenging myself in order to become a complete fighter."

  • Who is John Donahue?

"Under the right circumstances, I?m sure that I could be coursed into coming back and fighting again."

Just a matter of time.

if he waits too long, it'll look like Michael's comeback to the Wizards. Unfortunately.

"Pride will make him an offer i think... "

More likely K-1. Best retirement home in MMA. The classics can get in there, get paid well and put on entertaining matches with each other. The Masters division of MMA.

Randy Couture is the only UFC fighter to win championship titles in two different weight divisions

I've heard this a million times, but didn't Miletich do this also

No, Militech was always at 170. He only went up to 185 once, to fight Matt Lindland, and was stopped in the first round.

Nice interview, I had only heard of the Overeem match as being a robbery...

"I?ll always be proud of the integrity that I was able to maintain throughout the sport, and the way people have responded to my demeanor in regard to the sport. That?s something that I?m proud of... I don?t really have any regrets. Win or lose, it has been an amazing ride. I have no regrets at all."

cool RC is the man

John Kerry -- what are you reading/referencing? This is what I see in the article:

"Kal: Which loss bothered you the most?

Randy Couture: I would probably have to say that the Overeem loss haunted me for a while just because I felt that I could have won that fight, but made a tactical mistake. Getting caught in a guillotine choke was one that I really kicked myself for. "

No use of the name "Alistair" in there like you had, he's clearly referencing the fight with Valentijn in Rings.

Although whoever wrote the article seems to have some issue with the English language, or there's no editor at work here, since they use the word "coursed" instead of "coerced" later on in the interview.

It's not Renzo's John. His name is Danahur (SP?) or somthing close. This is John Donahue. He is one of Gene LeBells very few black belts and also a Rigan Machado Black belt. He is now under the Nova Uniao banner.

He is a really nice guy and great instructor. He lives and runs a school out of Melbourne, Australia.
He did wrestling with Rico Chipparelli, and used to be the RAW team BJJ coach.

His website is extremejjg.com

Think the WFA will pick him up?

Dont forget that Couture actually is a 2 time HW champ but BJ was pretty much champ at LW (shoulda got the dec over Uno II) and beat Hughes of course.

But then again, whoever's "fault" it was, BJ never defended the belt but lost his first fight back in the octagon @ WW (close a decision as it may have been).

Ring Girl, you come across as bitter.

LOL, bitter? I was asking John what he was referencing 'cause it seems like the article may have been changed or something. I also happen to think professional writers should have a command of the English language -- that's common sense, not bitterness.

The article was changed. It said Alistair at first. Whether that was Randy's slip or the guy transcribing the interview, who knows.
