Would this fight be worth it for Strikeforce to promote?
On one hand, it will put the best MMA guy on the planet against arguably the world's top grappler (who also happens to be a Gracie).
It could potentially raise Roger's stock through the roof, even with a competitive loss. On the other hand, if Fedor demolishes him, it still looks good for Strikeforce, as they would continue to lay claim to the top fighter in the game.
I guess potentially I'm a little worried that someone could lay n pray on Fedor, or some sort of fluke would prevent this fight from happening in the future when Roger is a little more established.
Yes, After Roger gets 3-4 big wins.
Yeah.. Gracie needs to be seen on showtime or cbs a few times to build his name a bit, before throwing him to the wolf!
Strikeforce's most visible (to its own audience) HW is Grim. Last nite on Crook's show, Scott Coker suggested a hypothetical card this fall with Grim vs Fedor, with Overeem on the same card. Fedor, despite the media hype, is not well known to the majority of the audience. His introduction needs to be one with an established HW, again "established" being known to that audience.
I'm also curious about promotional material, whether Strikeforce will have license to use any of Fedor's fight footage.
There are definitly enough fights in StrikeForce to keep Fedor busy for a while. Gracie is one of them.
Mad Xyientist - Yes, After Roger gets 3-4 big wins.
I'd love to see that fight.

Unless you are talking about the mma fans that know about the sport, I could argue that simply having the last name "Gracie" is going to fly a lot farther as far as marketing goes, than Fedor vs. Brett Rogers.
Fedor can stay busy in Strikeforce.
I have faith that Coker will challenge him.
Tom Lawlor -I didn't consider that angle. I guess that's why you let the dogs out and I didn't.Zedlepln -

Agreed. Coker proved that with Cesar vs Frank

Ding Ding Ding! Winner!
I just think it is a win/win for Strikeforce either way.
If Roger looks good and loses, well hell....he was supposed to, and they probably have a future star on their hands whom they can give "winnable" fights to until his standup catches up with his ground work (well I mean gets better).
If Roger gets killed, Strikeforce just proved how valuable of a signing Fedor is because he destroyed the best grappler in the world...who is going to look larger than him, AND has the last name Gracie. Whether we like it or not, the Gracies did pioneer MMA in America and still have more mainstream recognition than 90% of today's fighters.
If Roger wins, Strikeforce has just shown that their heavyweights are on par with any other in the world, and a new star is born. Regardless if Roger loses in subsequent fights, it works out well because then whoever beats him is elevated while Fedor can begin his road to retribution.
Love to see Fedor vs Hoger.
Does anyone have any idea how well rounded he is yet?
Roger's people wouldn't let him take a fight like that until he's ready and he's a long way away from being anything like a legitimate competitor.
roger gracie must beat brett rogers first
It could develop into a marketable fight but I agree Roger needs 2-3 wins in the limelight before you book that fight.
Another guy who isn't getting much attention is Shane del Rosario. He is possibly the best heavyweight striker in MMA. He doesn't have the weight of the Gracie name behind him, but with a couple big televised KOs he could put himself in the picture
Roger needs to work on his standup before facing a monster like Fedor. Moreso because Fedor can keep the fight standing and ride out the lay'n'pray like he did against Nogueira and win on points.
Straight grappling, Roger Gracie would tap out Fedor guaranteed. But in the ring with rounds, Fedor is a blackbelt tactician who will win a boring lay'n'pray or slap box match.
Fedors 2nd loss will be via submission, just watch.

Maybe you need to watch.
Just watch.
Fedor's fights.
is Fedor still planning on competing at ADCC?
