Oliveira: SUB GOAT

He hasn’t had the elite wins in his resume but dam, he keeps em tappin and tappin. This time set up by a beautifully placed elbow, takes his time, opponents finally exposes the neck and he delivers another anaconda.

Guy is perhaps the most fun sub fighter ever to watch. Just a consistent danger to get that tap all fight.

Royce, Maia and Ortega I'll take over him. Nog and Mir comes to mind and werdum.

Like I said, he hasn’t had the elite wins of the Nogs, Maias, Werdums and even Mir but Mir folds just as easily as he gets quick taps, Royce is in his own category, I don’t think any of them are as dangerous at all times for the sub as Oliveira …and to be fair, the smaller guys gonna be more dynamic but the dam #s don’t lie.

Oliveira can more aggressively hunt for subs than all those guys imo somewhat like Aoki. Every angle, every position, they can hunt for something. Btw, why does everyone leave Aoki and Saku out of their respective dues?

Shit, stream just cut out and missed Maia’s tap…when he’s on, he’s on…top notch tds for a BJJ guy and guess he’s stumped by the high level guys only…diff style than Oliveira, I think Oliveira may not be on the higher level of MMA period but I think he has more attack angles from his back, legs, fast chokes…but love it when Maia is on too

Aoki was before my time. So that's why I dont put him in. Havent even seen one of his fights. But people rate him highly.

The gracie hunter is at the top of the pyramid too.

You guys and this GOAT shit after every show, lol.

I’ve seen the majority of Mir and Royce rights. Couple of nogs and majority of werdum. Just YouTube and such. Never seen an Aoki fight. So I couldn’t pass my opinion on him.

I'd say, while not the most dynamic submission artist, I rate Maia as the most effective submission fighter in ufc history.

Very exciting fighter, his sub record is going to be hard to beat.

Just search Aoki on YouTube … and be amazed with the Magic Pants Superstar

Great Sub. But he got robbed of a TKO,

How does that ref not step in and stop the fight after the fighter covers himself and turns away like that to the fence?

You might not be wrong. With his tds being so strong, although in a diff manner, he can also aggressively, forceably and proactively push for the subs.

I feel like Oliveira though is more dynamic as noted due to him not requiring a td to be dangerous. Look at that first sequence where he circled to get the back and transitioned to the legs. Or can dam quickly he can snatch the anaconda on from the standing front head lock.

Just bustin balls a bit Sassen.

Just meant that Aoki was not technically before your time if you got around to seeing those who came before him (Royce, Nog, Mir…even Werdum although his big wins came later in his career).

But yeah, check out his HLs…note that he tapped out Eddie Alvarez with s beautifully transition from a mount attempt from Eddie, Aoki went to a leg lock as Eddie attempted mount. Aoki is the first guy to gogo a top guy in major comp (against Hansen). He is very much like Oliveira and he was ranked higher due to beating higher ranked guys…he just like the other Japanese fighters failed miserably state side.

TwentyNineTwentyEight - You guys and this GOAT shit after every show, lol.

Ive been saying this about Oliveira specifically for a while. He already has the sub wins record but even before he got it, I was saying he is probably the most dangerous sub guy. Am I caught up in the moment? Or am I right? Take a look for yourself…

No you are right. He has proved he is the greatest submission artist of all time in MMA. There are different styles within BJJ, so he may not be the best BJJ fighter; meaning he’d get beat by guys like Gilbert Burns and Maia in a BJJ match but his offensive style and always attacking the sub whenever possible makes him different. He is just massively underrated and not talked about at all because he doesn’t speak english and has had some weird losses and has missed weight a lot.

His striking really looked good vs Teymur… This will only help his submission game.

I would say the main difference is Olivera submits far more opponents that most of the guys you have listed after he has hurt them on the feet.
