Just rewatched him vs Rudyard moncayo. He lands a nasty running front kick to his solar plexus that sends him flying. That had to hurt real bad. I've never seen anything like that since.
Couple that with the beatdown that he served up to Scott Morris and its frightening.
If he had learned the ground game he would have been a legit threat for anyone back then and could have even won a couple 8 man tournaments.

Another odd thing that I noticed from the moncayo fight. Pat Smith is wearing a wrestling singlet.
From my understanding, he was from a purely karate background. Anyone know why he wore the singlet for that match? Seems kinda weird
