Paul Harris sub of Fitch vid.

Op Wan Kenobi - The thing is, anyone who has done jujitsu knows, is not just about how long the sub is held. It's also about how much pressure is being applied to the joint.

It's about his intention. And his intention is to FUCK YOUR LEG UP! And if he happens to win the progress, it's a bonus. Those kinds of injuries will take away the lively hood of a fighter no problem. Phone Post 3.0

If Palhares eases up on the pressure Fitch could escape. If the ref doesn't see the tap and Fitch doesn't admit to it Palhares gets screwed out of a sub win.

Look at Matt Lindland vs Bustamante for an example of what happens when you don't let the ref break it up.
I respect you as a member. You are an 01er. We can just agree to disagree. I feel like a jiu jitsu leg lock specialist like him can bring sub to a point where it is "locked in" and is causing enough pain for a guy to tap without destroying the leg. When Fitch is tapping and screaming, he could maintain the amount of pressure that got Fitch to tap in the first place without continuing to extend the joint. Just my opinion. Like I said in my first post, it's a beautiful technique. Phone Post 3.0
It doesn't sound like you have ever trained grappling seriously. Straight joint locks like kneebars and armbars have to cause pain to entice the person to tap. These are pro fighters. If it doesn't hurt, they're going to keep fighting. If Palhares doesn't crank that sub, Fitch has time to plan and escape and punch him in the face, like he did when they first went to the ground. Palhares gave Fitch more time to submit than Fitch gave Palhares when he punched him in the brain. Phone Post 3.0

Gunna get flamed for this but I don't think he held it particularly long? Phone Post 3.0

This post is how we know you don't know anything about leg locks.

Exactly, this Op Wan Noob knows absolutely 0 about leg locks.

He is the exact kind of MMA fan I would love to have move over to watching professional wrestling (more his style imo as it's fake) in exchange for the wrestling fans coming over to MMA following the CM Punk signing.

Paramount Donkey - Everyone is making a big deal out of nothing. He stopped when the ref intervened, which is exactly what you are supposed to do Phone Post 3.0

Palhares is basically the only terrifying submission expert at this point and his commitment to subs is part and parcel of that. Just like stepping in the ring with JDS isn't likely to work out well for your long term brain health. Also, he appears to be half 'tarded. Phone Post 3.0

Didn't he have a situation where he thought a guy tapped, so he let go before the ref came in and then he got kod? I'd be holding my subs longer too after that Phone Post 3.0

Good win by Paul Harris. Wasn't held too long at all. Phone Post 3.0

Yeah against Nate. That was some bs Phone Post 3.0

Actually I think he was complaining that Marquardt was greasing to the red or something and Nate nailed him. Phone Post 3.0

If the opponent doesn't scream it doesn't count, and boy did Fitch scream.  And no, Palhares didn't hold it too long.  He is just that good.  He makes a sub as exciting as a left hand haymaker to the jaw.  If his next opponent pisses himself from fear, that's part of the game.

Yep this

Fine line between having a leg lock and losing it

It's on Fitch if he wanted to tap earlier, not on Paul Harris to half ass the sub or let go early and hope Fitch will be honest about it Phone Post 3.0

Fuck this moron, he is taking the piss.
He knew he had him, there was no need for that. Phone Post 3.0

If he doesn't scream it doesn't count? Huh? And him being "just that good" has nothing to do with him holding the sub. It looked pretty damn obvious he held the submission long again. That motherfucker. Phone Post 3.0

He held it too long...

to appease most of you pussies.  But in reality he let go the second the ref touched him.

It's a lot slower in slow motion Phone Post 3.0

Loooooooooooool.. Are you crazy the Ref had to jump in and open his hands literally of the heel hook.

It's a knee bar Phone Post 3.0

Don't matter cause Fitch didn't tap until it was too late. Phone Post 3.0

I don't think people quite expect the full power which Paul Harris applies the leglocks with. In most BJJ gyms guys go for leglocks with a certain degree of respect to avoid injuring their training partners but Harris uses violent roid-tard strength at all times. Fitch waited too long to tap and by the time he did his hamstring had lost all power to resist the knee being fucked. I like how Fitch just puts his arms behind his head and starts waiting for the medic....knee blown out like a boss. Phone Post 3.0

He should have been banned a long time ago. Almost every submission he has is questionable. He's clearly a fucking idiot. Phone Post 3.0

The slow mo looks horrible but it really wasn't that bad in real speed.
