Paul Harris sub of Fitch vid.

The gif posted in this thread shows Paul Harris letting go pretty much immediately when the ref touches him. Like less than 0.1 second.

Has Fitch said anything about whether he thinks the sub was held too long?

Someone please post gifs of ken shamrock fake tapping against royce, lindland fake tapping against bustamante, and a few others i cant remember right now.

FUCKING CHAEL SONNEN has tried fake tapping like 3 times Phone Post 3.0

If it wasn't palhares we would all be talking about that fucking awesome submission,
No one would even consider that it was too long in any way shape or form.

But the dude has history so people look at it differently. In this case though, no issues. Please can we all enjoy the sub and move on to discussing who the fuck does WSOF have that would beat him at welterweight? Phone Post 3.0

he let go as soon as the ref touched him seemed fine

How about when Fitch called a timeout vs Jeff Joslin?

Op Wan Kenobi - The thing is, anyone who has done jujitsu knows, is not just about how long the sub is held. It's also about how much pressure is being applied to the joint.

It's about his intention. And his intention is to FUCK YOUR LEG UP! And if he happens to win the progress, it's a bonus. Those kinds of injuries will take away the lively hood of a fighter no problem. Phone Post 3.0

If Palhares eases up on the pressure Fitch could escape. If the ref doesn't see the tap and Fitch doesn't admit to it Palhares gets screwed out of a sub win.

Look at Matt Lindland vs Bustamante for an example of what happens when you don't let the ref break it up.
I respect you as a member. You are an 01er. We can just agree to disagree. I feel like a jiu jitsu leg lock specialist like him can bring sub to a point where it is "locked in" and is causing enough pain for a guy to tap without destroying the leg. When Fitch is tapping and screaming, he could maintain the amount of pressure that got Fitch to tap in the first place without continuing to extend the joint. Just my opinion. Like I said in my first post, it's a beautiful technique. Phone Post 3.0

Even a little adjustment, a little slack is enough to allow a tough guy to escape. Just look at jeremy stephens escaping from an extending armbar from olivera yesterday.

The Rev has a lot of fake accounts apparently Phone Post 3.0

Slow motion makes it look a lot worse. In real time it wasn't that bad at all.

What Fitch pulled against Joslin just goes to show you that he is totally capable of fake tapping. All he needs is a slight bit of room to escape. Phone Post 3.0

Dude that fight is one of the biggest travesties in mma.

Fitch head butt joslin, called time out and then won via robbery

Joslin made fitch his bitch Phone Post 3.0

Samoa - One second from the time the ref touches him to when he let's free. Phone Post 3.0
This. It looked reasonable to me. Sucks that you can't trust guys and release on tap instead of release on ref but too man dirty cheats over the years pretending they didn't tap. I'm not a fan and he's had some dirty releases in the past. This was not one of them. Phone Post 3.0

He could win a decision and people would say he held on too long.... Phone Post 3.0

The problems is that professional fighters are not going to tap unless they are legitmately scared of losing their leg. Many will even fight through injury causing submissions and fight hurt if they can.

What Palhares does is brutal and frankly I wouldn't want any part of that. It is also brutal to punch a guy in the head repeatedly, sometimes even after the guy is unconscious already. People don't complain as much about the punches because the results are not as immediate and dramatic, but personally I would rather walk with a limp for the rest of my life than be permanently brain damaged.

I love watching professional MMA. The skill and athleticism these guys bring to the fight is amazing. However, it is a brutal sport where two highly trained fighters are trying to hurt each other. Palhares brings a different flavor and honestly he seems a little bit slow, but I don't think he is any more malicious than anybody else. He wants to do what he takes to win, but he also is scared just like you would be. His defense is the same as his offense--break your leg before you pound his face in. Do you think Fitch wouldn't have pounded Palhares's head until the ref stepped in if he had the chance? Of course he would have.

Admit it, you're just afraid of palhares. It's okay, it just means that you're a bleeding belching vagina. Phone Post 3.0

IMO this fight (not ALL of Palhares'; he has been guilty before) is no different than a guy continuing to punch a guy that is out.  It's within the rules, it isn't necessary or easy to watch............but it's not technically dirty.

Is this any different than overeem punching Struve after the first punch that knocked him out? Its mma. Pussies. Phone Post 3.0

He let go as soon as the ref grabbed him, tapping means nothing, it is all about the ref.

Leglocks are also very hard to secure, they are all or nothing moves, you cant just gently apply them, some of you are clueless.

Is this still mma? whats up with all the crying? wasnt held to long

This post is how we know you don't know anything about leg locks.
