John just dropped a brutal knee followed by a soccer kick after almost subbing his opponent fwiw. Fight changing/finishing? No, but it wasn’t nothin’.

I just saw the replay and he actually dropped a few grounded knees and a soccer kick. The guy got up like it was nothing. Sure he scored points but nothing looked brutal. I’m a fan of grounded kicks, even punches to the back of the head and 12/6 elbows.
Still not convinced that these strikes make enough of a difference in most fights. They are low percentage wins.

The closer we can get to a real fight (unarmed combat) the better imo. That includes all those things you’ve mentioned. I was a huge proponent of soccer kicks til I saw that ONE FC compilation on YT. Still on the fence.

I really hate the fence.
It was just started as a gimmick and now is the standard.
It’s use typically just slows fights down and takes away the action.
I’d rather see a ring

Oh dude I appreciate the ring so much more watching RIZIN. You guys really were blessed to have been there for PRIDE when it was happening, I’ll take RIZIN as a consolation, but there is something beautiful/pure about a fight in a ring. It’s magical stuff.
