Bump
Ok, I found something about bjj going from dark blue to black brown etc. In the late 60s... I still can't find shit
Ttt
Thanks for the bump JESK.
TrappeBier,
Pedreira makes a few references to the jiu-jitsu belt system in Choque vols 1 & 2, but it's not clear when it was systemized. Pedro Valente has a video about it with some interesting info, but unfortunately I think it has problems.
Not sure if there's interest in Helio's fights in the 1950's, since there's actually video of his famous matches with Kato & Kimura. (Actually, I don't think this kind of material generates much interest for the site I write for, unfortunately.) I think this series of articles might just stand alone.
Thanks again guys!

Thanks Ben, back at you! Hope you enjoy it.
Great stuff! ttt!
Thanks Rom! Glad you enjoyed.
A great resource for these articles was Roberto Pedreira's series of books, Choque: The Untold Story of Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil.
If you're interested, I reviewed the latest installment, which covers 1961-1999, this week:

Unfortunately, I ended up a little disappointed...
