Sorry guys, FRAT warning:
OK, can someone answer a couple of questions for me about Dolce's book "Living Lean". By the way, the reason I'm interested and am a little late to the party is that I heard Mike on the JRE and I thought I would give his book a shot. Hey, what do I have to lose, right?
Does this book contain something along the lines of a diet plan so to speak? I'm really clueless about nutrition and diet and stuff. What I'm looking for is something that tells me what to eat and when to eat it. I go to the gym 3 times a week (usually Monday, Wednesday, Saturday due to time constraints) and go for a walk for roughly an hour every Monday - Saturday so I'm not totally physically inactive but I would love to lose some weight.
I'm 6'4 and currently weigh 264lbs. I'm not really fat but I'm definitely not skinny either. I have good shoulders, arms and OK legs but my chest and abs kinda suck. I've got a belly thats for certain but I'm not "Documentary Fat" if you get what I mean lol. I could definitely use some tips for when I'm at the gym such as what muscle groups to work on what day, what to eat before and after the gym and just some more good excercises to be honest.
I figure, no matter how much I exercise it doesn't mean shit unless I'm eating right. I don't mind cutting out junk food, cutting out soda and all that shit because I don't eat or drink a lot of it anyway. Also I very rarely drink alcohol and I don't smoke either just incase thats important lol. To be honest, I've tried to make some changes to benefit my diet such as switching from white rice to brown rice, normal spaghetti to brown spaghetti that sort of thing. I'm eating a lot more chicken (skinless) and fish, trying more vegetables and eating less microwavable stuff, take out food etc... But I still need some help, I want to be told "This is what you eat for Breakfast. This is what you eat for Lunch. This is what you eat for Dinner." and I'll follow it to the letter.
Ultimately my goal is to look better, get fitter and start training MMA properly. I don't want to go to MMA classes just now because I feel like I would be able to go full capacity for like 30 minutes then I would be spent lol.
Any information on Mike's book related to this post would be greatly appreciated, many vote ups will be in your immediate future lol. Thanks in advance everyone! :)
Basically a book of low carb meal recipes. I have it but have only flicked through it

So this isn't really the book for me then?...
I've read the book. The first part is a short bio of Dolce which gives you an insight into how he came up with his theories about training and diet. Yes, there are some diet plans later on. He'll break it down by meal so it's a pretty good plan. Later there are some suggested exercise routines. It would be awesome for a beginner but even if you're an athlete there's a lot of great stuff.
Another book you might want to check out is the Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf. He also has appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast. Listen to that episode and see if what he says makes sense.
Good luck and let us know if you get it and if it works for you. And if you get the Dolce book, I would recommend the print version because I hate trying to flip through the diet and recipe sections on my iPad.

Cool. Thank you.
I'm going to try Dolce's book, I'll order it off Amazon tonight when I get home.
I've heard about the Paleo Diet, you essentially have to eat like a caveman, right? It sounds cool but maybe just a little too hardcore for me but I'll definitely check it out.
Voted up! Not that it really does anything :)
Dolce in not low carb at all. He's the opposite. He just gets his carbs from better sources. He's huge into fruits and quinoa.
He just sent out a letter about his work with belfort how he stresses fruits and grains, and lower protein for fighters.
Hi Cruedi! Are you doing the Dolce diet? I definitely prefer most of his food suggestions over the Paleo Diet.
UGCTT_Fraser_Finlay - Yeah, the Paleo Diet is much more restrictive but it does make some sense. I do a weird combination of both diets but mostly it's just my efforts to stay off of fast food!
