and pretty much everything Monsters Ball has already posted, he can easily be a top ten or even be number 1, but fighting in K1 isnt MMA. His last few MMA fights were against guys who werent even top ten guys. Brett Rogers was ranked 10 on some forums polls when they fought, he beat Rogers and moved in his place.

The guy says he doesn't see many people claiming AO isn't top ten. You say DFW. He laughs it off as a promoter not promoting another guys fighter. You come back with Dana makes a lot of people think AO isn't top ten.

Do you? I see a lot of people say he is not #1, i don't see a lot of people saying he's not top ten.
I will step up and say I do not feel he is top 10 MMA.
Ignoring the "10er's gonna 10" and "noob" statements, i will explain.
Alistair Overeem as HW is on a 10 fight win streak, if you ignore the Crocop shenanigans, which is impressive. But if you look at his opisition, in contrast to other top ranked HW fighters it isn't even close.
His most impressive win as a HW,and his stiffest competition to date, is Brett Rogers. Compare that to those around ranked above and below him (accordoing to fightmatrix rankings, Overeem is 8th), #7 Mir, and #9 Big Nog.
Frank Mir's recent competition is Crocop, Carwin, Congo, Brock, and Big Nog.. all concensus top 10 other than Congo.
Big Nog's recent competition is Velasquez(The champ and #1 ranked), Couture (the guy most wanted to see fight Fedor), Mir, Sylvia (ranked top 10 at the time and just removed HW champ), and Heat Herring. Where Herring was his only not top 10 opponent.
My argument with this is that his level of competition is weak, to say the least, and while he has the opportunity to fight good competition in Fedor, Arlovski, Bigfoot, Werdum, Kharitonov,Barnett,etc... he choses to avoid them and fight for a payday. I do not hate on him for it, adn think he is a good fighter but i feel his ranking is inflated based on accomplishments from outside MMA.
Based off being ranked due to his outside accomplishments then Ray mercer adn James Toney should fight for the top slot since they have extremely impressive resumes outside MMA. While I realize this is an extreme example, it still applies.

As far as jones, KenFlo, and Hardy Fightmatrix has Jones as 16th, which is fair based off his competition and he is advancing appropriately, Florian at 8th and his only loeese at LW coming to champions Sherk and Penn so I call that fair, and Hardy was for selling Brits on the UFC, and give them hope. If you question the Hardy title shot but not "the other Cyborg's" shot, you should be youthanized. Orgs gotta do what they gotta do sometimes.
By some people's standards you would only have 2 or 3 guys in the top 10!
