R any of u really gonna watch UFC over football?

I like football, but I like MMA a lot better. No way I'll miss UFC 142 for a football game

PR -
Neil McCauley - 2012, dvr's how do they fucking work?

You gotta watch big sporting events live IMO

it makes absolutely no difference if it's recorded or live. because if you watch it 'live' it's still delayed, and there's no difference.

i have no interest in watching men play with their balls

Football is horrible. I've never seen an entire game. And sports in general fucking suck to watch.

MMA is the only "sport" I watch, and even then I don't fully consider it a sport, it's something more than that...either way though I follow MMA obsessively.

unfortunately for dana only in fantasy land does the UFC even remotely compete with football, and it will be drastically evident after this.

No shit but this isnt really fair, this is playoffs with tebow and Brady against a card that is probably gonna be the lowest card in terms of buys in years.

its not like Brock or GSP were fighting, even if they were the NFL Would still crush them cause NFL is untouchable in the US as far as sports, nothing can touch them, not NBA, MLB, boxing, mma etc.

this is like one of the biggest playoff games in a long time cause of the whole tebow shit against one of the weakest UFC PPV's in years in terms of what its expected to do on PPV.

Probably have 30 plus mill watch NFL game, maybe 100 to 150k PPV buys for the UFC if they are lucky.

Mma may never be the biggest sport in America, but it can still be the biggest sport in the world which is what Dana has predicted.

That said I doubt it will ever beat soccer. Phone Post

Dana may believe that, he should believe that but it will never happen. Its funny when people blast him for saying that, like what kind of person would he be if he said oh we'll never be like this or that or this big, we just want to carve out a little place and do our thing. No he is gonna say we are gonna take over the world, we are gonna make this into the biggest sport etc, it may not happen but he should believe it will.

MMA will never be as big as NFL in the US or soccer/football in the world.

Is this thread about handegg or the real football?

Chris Power - 9/10 MMA fans don't watch other sports, so it is not surprising to think that they'll watch the UFC over a Brady/Tebow showdown.

MMA is the sport for people who don't like sports.

I actually think this is true. I love watching all kinda of sports but majority of my friends that watch MMA, don't watch any other sport. Phone Post

I really think people underestimate the global potential mma has.

Reasonable Discourse -
crowbar -  Where I will be,will definitely be watching football instead of UFC.

Really, Barface killah? Football instead of Joezay Al-Dough?

I will be playing poker at a friends house ( no way he pays for MMA.In fact he thought that Royce Gracie was named Horse Gracie)

Wow I thought it was just me, MMA is teh only sport I watch. The rest suck. (except world cut football)
lol, im with you too

And you're actually proud. smh.

If they don't like other sports, so what? I agree, I find MMA 10x more exciting than any other sport I've seen.

If I ever suffer brain damage I might start watching football but unless something of that nature happens, my brain is just not slow enough to enjoy it.

DamnSevern -  I really think people underestimate the global potential mma has.

I don't think so. At least I don't underestimate it.

There's just no chance that the UFC is going to be able to compete with any major sports league in the US, for MANY years, if ever.

People are delusional about what they think, friggin NHL hockey has far and away more fans in the US than MMA does and it's the red headed stepchild of US Sports.

Because of the way the UFC is built (as an entertainment company, not a league) I don't believe it will ever have that kind of backin in the us because there's no way to follow the sport based on people earning fights. There's no schedule, no ladder, no season. Those are big factors in why sports are successfull, and the off season builds aniticpation and allows teams to regroup for the next year.

If the UFC ran a ladder system or did a system like Belator I think it'd be different. But the problem really sits more with the fact taht the UFC is a PPV company, and sales of events are down 40% last year. For a spot in it's infancy that is a very bad sign. So the only thing I think is that the FOX deal will be what saves it. Because they can completely change the model and have the biggest venue in sports to do it.

Worldwide? I think MMA will be huge. but just as you say people underestimate the UFC, I think people underestimate that other orgs out there that dont' come to the US, and are huge in their respective countries. I don't think the UFC will go in and crush them like they do these small orgs here.

MMA will continue to grow and be popular, but it still hasn't passed the fad stage in the US. Here today gone tomorrow is the motto in TV, and the UFC is still very vulnerable in that area.

I think in the end the UFC will change to adapt with the new FOX deal, and the new TUF structure, and become very successful in that area. But I don't think it will ever be able to compete with any real league of any kind, let alone beat them

I don't think you know what "national" means.

I'm with these guys.

Ummm yes, I'll be watching MMA. It's more competitive than dudes throwing a ball around. I don't like football so I guess I'm biased.
