In an interview with the NY post, Anderson Silva revealed that he would very much like to do a boxing super fight with Roy Jones Jr, more so than any other super fight in MMA. Yesterday, TMZ was able to catch up with the boxing super star who responded directly to his challenge:

"I don't like wasting time. I don't want to talk about something that's not going to happen so if you want to do it, I would love to do it," Jones Jr. told TMZ. "Of course if we're going to do it shortly, if it's two, three years down the line I can't make no promise. But if we're going to do it immediately right away like after the next fight, then it can happen."

Many wonder why the 38-year-old Silva, who is still capable of handily defeating the elite in his own sport, would want to jump into a boxing ring against one of the best to ever lace up a pair of gloves.

Jones Jr. has his own take on that, and believes it's simply because Silva wants to challenge himself and put his skills to the test in a new element.

"He might not necessarily think he can get me but he might want to find out can he get me," Jones Jr. explained. "He might not 100 percent think that but he might want to see how good he could do. Could he get me? So he knows he's good enough because he's been getting everybody over there, so he feel like, ‘If I'm that good why don't I try the best at that?' You got to respect him for that but the best at that don't run from nothing."

Damn roy might ruin his chin Phone Post

Massive Silva fan here but I can't see him beating RJJ in pure boxing.

Meeting halfway, in a K1 match. That would be interesting.

He would absolutely embarrass Silva.

Why cant this happen. Dana make it happen. Phone Post

Love Andy but RJJ would make him look silly in the ring. Just as foolish as Roy would look fighting MMA.

But it will never happen. There's no way Anderson's long term contract would allow this fight.

He would absolutely embarrass Silva.

And I say this because boxing and MMMA are totally different sports. Silva would destroy Roy in a kickboxing match, a MT rules match, a BJJ match, a wrestling match, an MMA fight, and pretty much every other form of combat.

No shame in losing to one of the greatest LHW boxers of all-time, regardless of how much he's declined.

dana is a fucking moron if he lets this fight go off

If they can't make bones jones vs silva they should let him fight the other jones.

Would be fun. Phone Post 3.0

I would watch Phone Post 3.0

I'd pay $500 to see it live Phone Post 3.0

Dana told Tyson Fury he could come over and fight Cain but there's 0% chance he'd let Anderson box RJJ.

PhallicObjekt - Why cant this happen. Dana make it happen. Phone Post

Silva has an exclusive contract. Dana would either need to allow Silva to make the fight, or put a boxing rules fight on a UFC card. I would pay for a boxing ppv just to watch that fight. I really want this to happen, but I don't think it will. Phone Post

I would watch, but I don't like Silva's chances. I would also like it to be after The Spider retires in a few years. Silva @ age 43 and RJJ @ 49 in a kickboxing match would be a nice send off to both of them. Phone Post 3.0

What if the UFC held a boxing match at one of the MMA events?

Somethin like that might bring in new fans from the boxing side, and they'll watch the MMA fights on the Silva vs RJJr card and end up becoming MMA fans afterwards...

Maybe? Phone Post

Dana would be a fool to allow Anderson to risk getting injured just to fight RJJ in pure boxing.

Even so, I would definitely pay to see this, and I am not a fan of pure boxing.

Your move Dana.

Dana would never let it happen. If it did, I wouldn't be shocked if Silva won, which is sad because Jones in his prime was one of the greatest boxers ever. He's that far past it.

Why did Anderson sign a 10-fight deal then say he'd like to box RJJ?....

Boxing fans have had many years to check out MMA and most of them did. I was a huge boxing fan before UFC 1, but after that I became a big MMA fan and although still enjoy boxing, it's not like it was for me. Most boxing fans I know can't stand the grappling aspects of MMA.

Interestingly, I thought once Brock made the move to MMA, pro wrestling fans would make the switch but as soon as Brock left, so did they. Still not sure why that happened.

I would love to see this! I wonder what weight class they would agree to? RJJ isn't the same fighter he was 10 years ago and i wouldn't be surprised if Anderson made it interesting. Phone Post 3.0
