Road House Movie Review: ‘Horrendous’ Remake proves McGregor ‘can’t act,’ may appeal to ‘virgins and WWE fans’

We watched it last night. It was shit,as expected.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t think it was worse than the average Netflix or Amazon movie these days.

Are they even making good action movies lately? None that I’ve seen.

Conor did fine, he didn’t ruin it.

The original was never all that special anyway. It was just some shit on TBS in the 90’s if we are being honest.

My wife decided that we needed to watch this last night. It’s not terrible but it really isn’t very good either. Watchable would be my most flattering description of the movie.

Connors character is a fucking joke, they make him out to be some kind of monster using all the tricks, camera angles and all sorts of crap. He never stands next to an average height person, when he comes close to doing so they use strange camera angles. If I had no idea who his midget ass was other than from this movie, I would guess he was 6’2’ and about 240 lbs. His character really is him playing himself, acting like a deranged fool throughout.

Spoken like a man who’s never shouted “arrivederci” back at a woman you just sexually pleasured, while strutting down the street naked…

^^ For sure, but we can’t be upset with age ole camera tricks being implemented by Hollywood in an action movie remake. Of course they’re using proven techniques with lighting and camera angles to make the bad guys badder, and good guys gooder. Calling on 6’0” Tom Cruise as exhibit ‘A’.

I haven’t watched this yet, but will tonight. Seeing some of Conor’s recent interviews has me placing low expectations on anything he might do in this phase of his life. In fact, I starting to think he might not be long for this world at the rate he is going.

Never watched the movie but saw a few scenes with Conor.

He seemed like he was doing a dime store impersonation of himself at ufc promotional events.

He’s worse than Ronda is at acting.

Yikes.

His 5 remaining straight fans here never wanted to come face to face with this little tidbit. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Not to mention Conor getting caught watching gay porn.

The whole aesthetic of Jake and this film in general makes it clear it will be nothing like the original

Those who are fans of the original all knew it couldn’t be remade, especially with a guy like Jake, will all due respect.

It should have been left alone.

Watched it last night on Prime. It was pretty bad but I still kind of enjoyed it. It was an odd feeling when it was over because I didn’t love it or hate it. The cinematography was gorgeous.

Jake didn’t seem like the correct choice for the role, but he did fine. Conor’s scenes were all over the spectrum of cringe, not bad, downright awful, hilarious, impressive, unexpected, and silly. If he does another movie he needs to work on the way he talks and facial expressions. I just don’t know what to think about his acting really.

His scene driving the student driver car and crashing it into a tree is one of the funniest movie moments in recent memory.

The car scene was hilarious.

Yeah it was, but I laughed the hardest when he crashed it into the tree and just got out and acted like nothing happened. Random comedy at it’s finest.
