Luke Rockhold might not be the best guy in the world at taking dating advice, but he does believe he is the best middleweight fighter in the world:

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has long been considered one of the best 185-pound fighters in the world. By the time this year is over, the 30-year-old aims to prove he’s the absolute premier fighter in his division.

“You always think and you always dream,” Rockhold told MMAjunkie. “I know what I want, and I believe it’s ahead of me. I believe I’m the best fighter in the world.”

Weidman vs Rockhold would be an amazing fight. Phone Post 3.0

He's one of them... Phone Post 3.0

He's not that wrong Phone Post 3.0

It`s too bad that alot of society has "bought into " this false sense of security that one needs to believe that they are the best in the world.

Hopefully these gentleman can soon be brought back into reality.

Schaub probably thinks he's best in the world too.

He might not even get past Machida

ProctorMMA - Schaub probably thinks he's best in the world too.
Rockhold and Schaub don't really bear comparison. Rockhold is very close to the best in the world at 185 IMO. Phone Post 3.0

Sunce when is self confidence in a one-on-one sport is a bad thing?

It's not like he's that far off from reality. Definitely one of the top 5 in his class.

Reality > self confidence.

Reality > self confidence.

Please tell me more about the realities of becoming and remaining top ten in the world in your weight class. Phone Post 3.0

I think he could beat Weidman and this fight with machida will really solidify him as a serious threat. It's always a toss up on how good strikers will adapt to machida, gegard was very frustrated and couldn't get his range. I hope it's not the same for rockhold.

The reality is,that there are about 79 middleweights (just in the UFC) and 95% or more of them will never be considered the "Best in the World"

Lets drop Rockhold out of the conversation for just a second, and concentrate on every single fighter in the world that fights in the middleweight division.

Lets take CM Punk for example: If he was to say that he thinks that he is the best in the world.

Is that not beyond reality?

That`s delusional.

we're not talking about every single fighter... For CM Punk it would be delusional. For Rampage or Tito it would be comical, even thought they once may have been the best. For Rockhold, this is the the required mentality to for an elite athlete in his prime.

You see that`s where you and I disagree.

I don`t believe that it`s required thinking.

I believe that it can be done with or without realistic thought.

*Those last two words sounds contradictory, but hopefully, you grasp what I`m saying.

Another cliche fighter saying... Phone Post 3.0

I`ll wrap this up by saying that,I believe that it should /could be done with a realistic thought process & not even said until you`re wearing the UFC strap.

Weidman now has the right & shouldn`t be dismissed in sayiing that he believes that he is #1.

hope he crushes weidman soon
