UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey wishes UFC commentator Joe Rogan and other media personalities would apologize for their past criticism of how she handled losses.
Rousey is arguably one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time after pioneering the promotion’s dip into women’s MMA. She headlined the UFC’s first all-female main event, defeating Liz Carmouche for the bantamweight championship at UFC 157.
Since retiring from MMA, Rousey has opened up on what went wrong with the end of her fighting career. She attributed losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes in part to her substantial history of concussions and other health issues.
Rogan, the longest-tenured UFC broadcaster in promotional history, has commented on Rousey’s UFC end on numerous occasions. During a 2018 The Joe Rogan Experience episode with Eddie Bravo and Brendan Schaub, Rogan hinted at Rousey’s skillset being one-dimensional.
“It was disappointing to see how happily everyone turned on me,” Rousey said. “People like Joe Rogan who were crying in the ring out of the honor to call my fights, people I considered friends in the media, so quickly turned on me. I’m also kind of grateful for it, in a way, because it forced me to separate other people’s perception of me, from my own perception of myself, which I hadn’t realized had become intertwined. When you have that outpouring of love and support from people, you’re being love-bombed from the world. And how do I keep this going? I was pandering to everybody and doing things that other people would think was cool, but I didn’t really enjoy…
“It wasn’t real love, it was fake. It’s a reflection of themselves and what I represent to them…MMA media hates me, but it’s fine. They’ve all just doubled down and said I’m making excuses…not giving credit where it’s due. I’ll be waiting on that call forever.”
Rogan hasn’t commented on Rousey’s memoir, Our Fight, nor the UFC Hall of Famer’s concussion admissions since the book’s release.
Rousey transitioned to professional wrestling in WWE following a loss to Nunes at UFC 207. She’s squashed any speculation of a fighting comeback in recent years.
Rousey and Rogan could potentially break bread in the coming months, but if Rousey’s comments are any indication, she isn’t expecting any peacemaking with Rogan.
Lol if Rogan owes anybody an apology regarding Ronda Rousey, it should be to the fans and the fighters for saying she could beat a male fighter.
She actually believes being in her presence and commentating on her fights is “an honor…”
I bet she had conversations with herself in the mirror, telling herself she’s amazing and the judges are the ones who were wrong, when she couldn’t get gold and she was staring at her bronze medal.
Shes trolling hard…
Joe literally cried and said she could beat up Floyd
Joe should sue her lol
so she’s still bitter because they pointed out that she got KOd in back to back fights and didnt want ot talk to any media about her losses…cool
She honestly, obviously, has severe mental health problems. Probably Borderline Personality Disorder.
Yeah you handed those losses like a really champ…
.
You blame the concussions for Ur losses to Holly and Amanda…
That ain’t Joe’s fault.
That’s
Edmunds fault, or Ur fault for not listening to his advice,
“Head Movement”
Oh and u handled that Holly loss with total dignity and like a true professional…
Boo hoo, cry some more Ronda, u silly cunt
Thats Funny
When the Undertaker broke character and started talking on podcasts, it was kind of cool. Some fans didn’t like it.
The Undertaker was well respected and ran the locker room court.
Rhonda’s recent podcasts almost feel like therapy sessions. She kind of ragged on everyone from the UFC to the WWE.
I don’t see many people saying that she was pleasant to interact or work with.
Lesson? Be more like the Undertaker when you retire.
Yeah, but Rogan literally said that. She’s just using his words.
Oh I know, and she truly believed/believes it. Delusions of grandeur.
I know we are hearing from a more mature Rousey, but could you imagine what it was like being around her back then.
Sorry Ronda…Rogan is busy talking about Kayla now… you know the GOLD medalist who just BEAT Holy Holm?
Ronda has to hate Harrison and the attention she is gonna get when she becomes UFC champ. As a bronze medalist who lost to Holm, she has to hate Harrison now.
I feel like Ronda’s entire existence is based around proving haters wrong. She doesn’t seem to get nuance, so you either love her or you hate her.
Maybe…but she wont sell 20% of the PPVs Ronda did
