                    <blockquote>

The fight between Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua at UFC 139 came to be compared with the third fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier President Dana White. Nobody discussed the quality of the show, but the result in favor of the U.S. created controversy. The Brazilian avoided challenging the decision, but called for revenge.

"It certainly was a great fight. I do not know how the judges made the final round of counting, could or should have been 10-8 to me. But that takes nothing away from Dan Henderson. He is a legend and one of those fighters who have created a legacy. But I want revenge, I think it would be another great battle and the public wants to see ", said Shogun after the defeat.

Whoa. Shogun was carted off to the hospital. I couldn't understand shit he said in his post-fight interview and he's talking rematch as the only thing on his mind after that war. What a fucking savage.

A rematch for the next title shot after Rashad wouldn't be such a bad idea, even if it didn't live up to the first.

Who else is in the mix more worthy of a contender fight? Phone Post

Shogun started the fight sloppy. He sounded hungrier after taking an asskicking than he did going in to the fight. What a warrior.

I don't see how they gave Bonnar 10-8's but not Shogun in the last round. Either way I welcome a rematch between those two. Phone Post

It really should be a draw. Hendo did not dominate any of the first 3 rounds in the same way Shogun dominated the 5th. Rematch must happen. To me, Hendo shouldnt get a title shot off that " win." Phone Post

I agree. Should have been a draw. VERY closely contested match. If they announced the winner as Shogun at the end I wouldn't have been surprised. If they announced it a draw I wouldn't have been surprised. To announce it was Hendo that won, I was a little surprised but not in a "Shogun was robbed!" way.

Rd 1-3 could've gone either way but I understand they gave them to Hendo. Rd 4 easily Shogun and rd 5 10-8 round for Shogun. If that fight were allowed to continue, ie rd 6 (like a real fight with no time limit or judges to decide it), Shogun would have definitely won

For the fighters, especially Shogun, and for the fans - we need Hendo vs Shogun 2. Does Henderson really think he "Won" that fight? That he "beat" shogun? I doubt it and as the warrior he is, I would think he would want the rematch to erase all doubts as to who the definitive undisputed winner is. Phone Post

Imo it was a draw for sure.

Fitch got a 10-8 round vs BJ for pretty much the exact same scenario.

An insane fight. Personally i think its SLIGHTLY overhyped, its not a top3 best fights ever in MMA. But it was for sure one of, if not the best fight of the year.

Shogun wins this fight with PRIDE rules right?

great...here we go...

i wonder if henderson would be on board for this...

The score cards imo should look like this For Dan Henderson: 10/9 10/9 10/9 10/9 8/10 = 48-46 Henderson. After watching the fight again (sober) Dan should have won the fourth round. He was winning up to the 1:30 mark till he got hit with a good shot. All in all i dont really see Shogun as losing. Nor do i think people will remember him losing this fight, but rather what a performance and epic fight these two warriors put on.

Round 3 could of gone either way? What in the hell were you watching? Shogun was destroyed in round 3. Busted up and bloody.

Seen some whacky scoring for this fight but giving the 4th to Hendo when he was badly hurt for the last minute thirty is... unusual.

I don't care for all of these rematches. The way I see it, Hendo won the decision with two 10-9 rounds and a 10-8. Even if it was a draw, I still wouldn't want to see a rematch.

Who in their right mind doesn't want to see 5 more rounds of Shogun/Henderson?

Not a fight fan, imo.

i want it if they both want it...otherwise i want to go ahead and move on. besides if he keeps winning and henderson keeps winning they will likely fight again.

has there really been that many?

machida/shogun

edgar/maynard

bonnar/soszynski

shogun/griffin (but that wasn't a direct rematch)

very close fight, but I believe 48-47 was the right score.

I might be wrong, but when I watched him walking in, I thought he looked like a guy who knew that he was about to be punished badly in a close war.

hes right. Should of been a draw.

Cyril Jeff -  very close fight, but I believe 48-47 was the right score.

I agree. I was rooting for Shogun, but the score was correct. And draws suck anyway.

I think if there had been a 6th or 7th round, Shogun would've won, but that's not the way fights are scored.

Btw. I can't believe the guy's just 29 still, he's been around forever, and he could fight another decade still...

grimsgrindgg - <quote> RickRedd - I believe the fight was scored right. Even if you were to give Shogun a 10-8 score for the 5th round for dominating that round even though he never had Hendo hurt, you should give Hendo a 10-8 for the 3rd round for almost putting Shogun to sleep on several occasions. Everyone thought that fight was finished that round (BIG UPS TO RUA FOR LASTING THAT ROUND). That last round reminded me of that Mark Hominick vs Jose Aldo fight, where Mark mounted Jose through out the whole last round but Aldo was never hurt just gassed out..... </quote> What fight were you watching!?! Aldo was NEVER in trouble with Hominick.....Shogun ROCKED Hendo a good half dozen times....A couple times it looked like Dan was just going to curl over and fall on his face after he got hit....WTF were you watching seriously, Shogun may have looked messy but he FUCKED Hendo up a good amount of times... At least enough for a draw.

yeah but Shogun rocked Hendo at the end of the 3rd. Hendo did nothing in teh 5th except take shots and defend. That fight was a draw. And anyone who doesnt' want to see a rematch needs their head read.
