Miocic likely won’t fight until 2020, due to eye injury
09/25/2019
Miocic’s agent, Jim Walter, from Kaulig Sports and Entertainment: “Mr. Miocic sustained a major retina injury from multiple eye pokes during his bout at UFC 241. Our client’s health and safety is our top priority. We are excited for him to return to action when he is healthy to compete in his seventh consecutive world title fight.” In 3 weeks Miocic will have the eye evaluated, and when cleared, will resume only non-contact activities. h/t ESPN
Thing is, it's absolutely a strategy to control distance and it's really fucked up. It can completely alter the outcome of a fight. Yair should've been DQ'ed. I can't believe so many people think these are all accidents. Lots of guys do it on purpose.

I agree that many do it as a tactic. These guys are to good not to be in more control of their hands and fingers. And it's always the same guys getting warned it seems
StrikingMMA - Until the refs start penalizing this, it will probably never stop. Guys like Jon Jones use it as a tactical weapon.
Thread is about Cormier eye poking and injuring an opponent.
Cormier poked same opponent very badly the previous fight.
Cormier has poked several other opponents.
You bring up Jon Jones.
Jones made a career out of it...has combos based upon it
such bullshit. It should either be legal for everyone like it is for Jones, Cormier, Yair, etc. or a severe penalty the first open hand that’s extended.
