No, the analogy would be tapping to strikes would be a 10-8, not tapping to a sub or strikes would end the fight
So the only way a fighter could win by submission would be to go for the most damaging moves as possible? I mean, I know that's sort of the intent, but there's a reason Palhares is a scarier opponent than most... With this rule, you'd literally force him (and any other sub artist) to rip their opponents apart.

Interesting concept but I do not like it. Similar to when they changed wrestling to rounds. Used to be of you tech fouled someone the match was over. Then they switched it to just winning that round. A pin is a pin though. Definitely would put more emphasis on striking.

There are entire sports that put more of an emphasis on striking...but scoring taps into the round is interesting.Can't do it w/ ko due to safety issues...
But to submit means just that.
Other guy should have choice to honor tap and get 10-8 or ignore tap and put guy to sleep or mangle limb.

the whole point of a tap is the fighter is submitting and anything past that point either leaves them unconscious or injured.
in a life or death fight, if you hold a choke the person dies and the round doesn't restart.
