I’ll see your Marlon Starling and raise with Harold Brazier.
This guy would be insanely wealthy had he been fighting today, one of the rare father son combinations that worked

Fucking awesome!! This is like when real BJJ OG’s get together and talk about who are the all time greats. Names pop that leave the new generation scratching their heads.
Boxing is the only sport where it is argued by many that it was better in the past.
Might be able to lump judo and wrestling in there too, but they are not professional sports.
I thought Stevie Johnston would have beat Shane Mosley at lightweight. Stevie was a very underrated pure boxer.
Hell yeah, any knowledge fan knows this is a fact.
92 Olympic class was real legit, even the guys who didn’t make the team like Johnston, Robert Allen etc had good pro careers
I know. Boxing was waaay better in the past. Just didn’t feel like starting any arguments on an awesome thread. Lol
Absolutely. I think the 96 team was definitely better but it was the last great American team for boxing in the Olympics.
Teofilo Stevenson
If you mention Stevenson, you also have to talk about Felix Savon . Most people don’t know there was actually a plan to have Stevenson fight a best of series with Ali (5 fights of three rounds) allowing Stevenson to retain his amateur status. Obviously it never came to fruition, partly because of the relationship between Cuba and the US in the 60s.
I mean we probably all heard of them but not as famous or mentioned? There are so many great ones.
I hold respect for Teo, but find his style to be very unattractive to watch.
A few other guys that deserve more mention
Kennedy McKinney
Oba Carr
Ike Quartey
Jesse James Leija
The Ruelas brothers
Miguel Angel Gonzalez
Wilfred Benitez
Vince Phillips
Charles Murray
Raul Marquez
Ivan Robinson
Tyrone “Butterfly” Crawley.
Benitez is a sad case, the guy didn’t take a lot of punishment and is punchy as hell now
Better fights against Gatti than Ward imho
Mighty could fight, I think he beat Oscar in the amateurs.
I look at Devin Haney as what Charles Murray would have been had he hit his full potential.
Poison Jr Jones
I loved Junior’s fights with Morales and especially Barrera. Without him beating MAB, Morales vs Barerra probably doesn’t happen and that’s one of my favorite series ever by far.
I am one of the few people who enjoyed both Freddie Norwood and Nate Campbell.
