The problem with Covington

Besides his terrible gimmick, unoriginal stilted promos and unlikable personality… he built his whole career on wins over guys at the end of their careers.

Kim Dong-hyun’s last fight
Maia-40 years old
One of Lawler’s last fights
Woodley’s 2nd to last fight
Masvidal’s 2nd to last fight

The guy got four title shots off of those wins and his trash promos and gimmick.

Hopefully he keeps losing and retires soon.

Correction, the guy got four title shots off of those wins.

Perhaps his 5th title shot will come with a win over Tony next.

And he calls out Wonder Boy for his next fight. WEAK!!!

Meanwhile its Burns in there with Thompson, Magny, Chimaev etc… and you know what his win over Masvidal got him, not a 3rd title fight like Colby but a fight with Belal.

See Burns is the kind of guy UFC is interested in getting in there with the Chimaev’s and Belal’s of the division and sure he got a single title shot but he fights two or three times a year vs the killers. He is already now booked vs Maddalena for 299.

Colby started fighting once a year after his 1st interim title shot.

A fighter like Burns would have to win 3x the fights and vs fighters closer to their prime than how UFC will handle a fighter like Colby.

Of course he called out Thompson, now that Thompson is 50 years old he figures it makes sense.

You know damn well he won’t fight Shavkat.

True. But I think Belal deserves the next title fight. Shavkat is the only real threat to that right now, but Belal is higher ranked. He’s 9-0 with one no contest (the eye poke he suffered against Leon) in his last 10. Beat Burns in his last fight.

He’s due.

No argument there.

I’m just saying its annoying watching how the UFC will handle the career of someone like Colby compared to some of these other fighters like Burns as an example.

They really fucked Maia out of some big opportunities while he was close to his prime and then tried to build everyone off of him once he was over 40.

Agreed. It’s not always based on merit. There’s favoritism, there’s who most marketable and controversial. Must be frustrating as hell for the fighters who get passed over for title shots when they are rightfully next in line.

He took edwards to 5 rounds after an almost two year layoff. Sad that edwards is in the conversation as goat and can’t even finish a fighter like colby.

Edwards was fighting not to lose until he decided to grapple like an idiot. He’s just lucky that was enough to beat Colby.

Edwards owes his ppv money he makes to colby. No one is buying his next fight.

Colby is a great fighter. He had 2 razor close fights with prime Usman. He’s 17-4 and has spent the majority of his career in the UFC.

The Colby that fought Usman would have given Leon much more trouble, he clearly wasn’t himself.

No need to shit on his entire career because of one off night.

But you can’t make him great again!

Too much talk not enough fight. If you’re going to hype up the fight in presser you better be ready to fight. Colby fought scared and looked like he was just in there for a paycheck.

Has Trump made any kind of statement?

The highlight of Colby’s career is his 2 losses against Usman.

He was gifted a title shot last night and he looked pathetic. Even when he had top position on the ground, he wasn’t effective. Zero damage done.

At the presser, he turned down the idea of fighting Shav next and campaigned to fight 40 year old Wonderboy next. He knows Shav would wreck him. Colby is washed.

He’s a real life pussy who can’t face the fire.
