How about the current defending champions of the two BIGGEST divisions, fight each other?
Is Bigfoot a bigger challenge to Cain than Jones?
Jones has ran through everyone in his division, and even picked off 2 top 3 guys in the division below his.
Jones will have reach advantage, and weight will be more than likely less than 10 pounds of each other. Stylistically this is a great match up, I can't see who comes out on top and how they do it, but if they fought, we'd get to see how it unfolds.
Who is the best in the world Dana White? Can we find out?
Jon Jones the Light Heavyweight Champion vs Cain Velasquez the Heavyweight Champion.
Don't you guys want to see who the baddest mother fucker in the world is?
I think if Jones is going to be involved in a superfight it should be against a heavyweight. Anderson, as great as he is, is just too small for Jon. If Chael can beat up anderson for 23 out of 25 minutes, what could Jon Jones do?
I suggested a few months ago that they should do silva/gsp and jones/cormier, but that was mainly because Cain had that KO loss to Dos Santos, but after his win in the rematch I think that fight makes sense.
So, I agree jones/cain would be one of, if not the, best fight the ufc could put on. top 3 for sure
The fact that this thread got 3 replies before quickly moving to the backburner is a big reason why this fight isn't being discussed more.
Newer fans watch UFC and what interest them the most is a style vs style fight like Jones/Silva.
Older fans however, want to see who the clear cut baddest mother fucker on the planet is. Jones/Silva would be great, but I'd much rather see the best of the best fighting without weight restrictions so we can determine who is the best fighter in the world, not the best fighter at such and such weight.
Fuck the money, make it happen. Let's see who the worlds baddest dude is. IMO being champ of a division should allow you such royalties as fighting bigger badder dudes. Tired of this being a "sport" all the time.
Unwariestpickle - Cain needs to defend his title a few times before we even talk about this.
This
Agreed. There is lots of time for Cain vs. Jones.
This, the reason Jones vs hwt champ never comes up, and that hwt champs never get mentioned in super fights is that no one has claimed the crown and held it for a decent amount of time yet.
Jones vs Silva and Silva/GSP are the two big fights.
Should Cain defend the belt a few more times and really establish himself as the greatest UFC HW champ and one of the best HW ever then when Jones moves up that will be a big money fight.
Chris27 - logic is right, its not a huge fight right now.

You are over complicating things.
1.Would you have invested interest in seeing Jones vs Cain?
2.Is it Dana's job to give the fans fights they want to see?
3.Would UFC be able to market this fight to help it sell ppv's?
If the answers are all yes, then why try to justify the "no" reasoning?
1.I'm not saying this is the biggest money making fight, but it IS a fight that would make a ton of money.
2.Viewing yourself as a fan, you want to see this fight
3.UFC can market James Toney vs Randy Couture, MW Vitor Belfort vs Jon Jones, MW Chael Sonnen vs Jon Jones, Dan Hardy vs GSP, UFC won't have a problem marketing two current champions pinned against each other who also happen to be in the UFC's two biggest divisions.

It's a fuckin huge fight. lots of fans see other major super fights as not very competitive, even as the fighters do too IMO (why they will never come off IMO).
I think both these fighters would hold a fair share of support (fans who think they would win) in the fight. I'd guess this is the 3rd biggest fight possible to make today (not second only because of Canadian market).
I'd pick Jones vs Silva for the 205 title(and no, Silva doesn't have to do anything else to "earn" it) If Vitor and Chael can fight for it, Silva sure as hell can, at least he has wins at 205. If Cain holds onto the title for awhile, and Jones moves up after continuing to absolutely crush the LHW division, then that will be the fight to make. Let Jones destroy Cormier to piss off his buddy Cain, then let them fight.
