Why are some of you kidding yourselves? Jones doesn't win with his flashy moves or jabs. He wins when he wants to get physical, the fights are over when he either takes his opponents down and elbows them or when he grapples.
The Machida-Jones fight was over the second Jones went for that takedown, which at first was defended well by Machida, but then Jones took it to another physical level and next thing you know Jones had the strength to lift both Machida and himself into the air for somekind of a suplex takedown which probably stunned Machida. But one thing is for certain, that takedown made Machida look like a little kid.
The simple matter of fact is that Jones doesn't have to perform all of spinning backfists and wheel kicks, that's all for show. His ability to fuck up fighters comes from the fact that he can take ANYONE down at ANYTIME and then go for the elbows. It was all over for Machida when Jones went for that takedown, so why is Jones able to take ANYONE down?
1) sheer size differential between him and other lhw fighters. not his greatest advantage however.
The primary factor for his immense advantage comes from two physical attributes
2) the LEVERAGE that he gets from his long-guiness book of world records-legs to dig for takedowns.
3) athletic genes that he gets from his athletically elite family.
Observe that suplex takedown in slow motion and Jones had the strength to LIFT Machida off of his legs and THEN suspend BOTH himself AND Machida into the air for an abnormal and insane slam that stunned Machida.
That's crazy strength and physical leverage right there. Jones long legs gives him an IMMENSE physical advantage on takedowns. How on earth are you going to defend a takedown against someone who has the leg strength and leverage to carry you around like a baby and then jump with 400+ pounds on his legs?
Seriously, who on earth at LHW is going to be able to defend against such insane takedowns?
Jones is awesome...a great champ...incredible at such a young age and so much more time to learn techniques to compliment his already great skillset, athleticism and instincts.

Have you seen his siblings? They're bigger then Overeem, fucking black Lesnar... One of his brothers are in the NFL the other is a star player in college football with amazing reflexes.

The JBJ situation OP described was clear to anybody equipped with even a modicum of MMA knowledge. I'm not the only one who said it, but I said so after the Bader fight: Jon Jones, barring a MASSIVE upset, will go down as the greatest fighter of the history of the sport. He's gonna overshadow Anderson Silva and GSP by a million miles.
