checkuroil - What an amazing coincidence that their made up form of karate and the other martial art they teach at their gym happened to share the same exact type of black belt.
the imbeciles on their facebook page sticking up for this are just completely clueless. I cant understand how people dont see the point. No wait I can. They are fatasses who never had to work as hard or commit as much to anything in their lives as we have had to to earn our ranks.
I notice on the Gracie Ft Collins facebook page that the girls in question also teach seminars on "stranger danger/street smarts". Alright.
Let me get this straight...
Two teenage girls --who were given a martial arts school by their wealthy parents-- bought hook, line and sinker into the completely fraudulent karate style of a con man & convicted pedophile, are offering advice to others on "street smarts"...?
I can understand kids wanting to join their school but grown as adults? Yeah I am going to pay over $100 to learn from minors with no life experience. Fort Colllins must be Yuppie town!
"Peter Frawley- My son and I have trained at this dojo for 6 years. Emma and Maycee rightfully earned their blacks belts under a newly formed and accredited martial art under grand master sensei Seth Sykes. A black belt with a red stripe is also a notation of being an instructor for which both girls have been for years. For kenpo/JIU JITSU class, black belts are worn. For gracie jiu jitsu, blue belts are worn."
Is everyone missing the part where THEY WEAR BLACK BELTS TO TEACH JIU JITSU??
UGCTT_Fillthy - I think they agree, but someone is taking their pictures out of context to create a disparaging narrative. Obviously, they know they made a mistake. And they didn't choose the belts for Seth-do, GM Seth made that choice. They are very proud of their 14 yo black belts in Seth-do...whatever, good for them.
FWIW - the name of the school is Fort Collins Martial Arts Academy.
Just to reiterate, they aren't wearing the Seth-do black belts to teach GJJ, and they're not marketing themselves as JJ black belts.
You need to lay off the koolaid
If you were reners wife you'd be the type that catches him cheating over and over but stays with him because deep down you know he loves you
Rener doesn't like me at all. Seriously. I bring nothing to the table. I'd also like to point out that I started the thread about the other fake BB, and I'm the one who raised the Master Teo issue with the Academy. I'm definitely not immersed in the Kool-Aid.
No one has ever said that they wore black belts to teach jiu-jitsu class. And from what I've read on the forums, that's pretty much what constitutes faking the black. These girls have never publicized or marketed themselves as JJ black belts.
Like I said before, they've used their plausible deniability. There's no excuse for the Seth-do instructor belts any more. Period.
But it does seem like those jumping on the Flame Wagon already had an axe to grind, either with this school, Rener, or the CTC system. Yes, I'm mixing metaphors. No you can't stop me.
Of course people have an axe to grind with Rener, since it's his marketing and brand pimping that is cheapening what it means to be a black belt in BJJ. This thing with these teen girls is just one aspect to a laundry list of selfish and unwise moves coming from Gracie Academy that the BJJ community as a whole rejects. Not sure how you either aren't understanding that. These girls and all their nonsense nonsense don't exist AT ALL unless Rener sells them a fake ranking through the web.
"No one has ever said that they wore black belts to teach jiu-jitsu class. And from what I've read on the forums, that's pretty much what constitutes faking the black. These girls have never publicized or marketed themselves as JJ black belts. "
No. They just wore BJJ black belts with their gracie gis, in front of gjj wall logos, in their gracie CTC and plastered that all over their GJJ (because I didnt see shit about that other martial art) website.

Nope never marketed themselves as BJJ BBs.
GTFO with that shit
Again: "Peter Frawley- My son and I have trained at this dojo for 6 years. Emma and Maycee rightfully earned their blacks belts under a newly formed and accredited martial art under grand master sensei Seth Sykes. Yes, they wear black belts to teach jiu jitsu, just not GJJ
you dont need to type anything again, I understand the situation. They wear their black belts with red bars to teach their other jiu jitsu program. I wonder why in fuck they picked the red bar of all things to differentiate their newly made martial art. Hmmmmm
When you sell belts online you will attract a certain "type" of person. This "type" of person has very little interest in martial arts and wants to use these credentials to increase their visibility / employability. All these people need is a person to certify and protect them, if this person happens to have a very marketable "name" it even works better.
Welcome to the Rener age, he will likely gain a lot of personal wealth from this (i'm guessing he already has) but reduce the image of a martial arts a lot of us really love.
Jeff Rockwell - We have a judo black belt from Australia who has started teaching throws at the beginning of our BJJ classes, he is very good. I encouraged him to wear his judo black belt while doing this. But without me having to say anything, when the judo part of the class is over, he takes off his judo black belt and puts on his BJJ blue belt. I wouldn't really be mad if he didn't switch belts, but I think it's pretty cool that he does.
I think this is the tipping point - 2 teenage girls parading around in black belts wearing Helio gis and running a school with Gracie in the name AND being backed by one of the members of the royal family. BJJ is now the Karate of the 80s and 90s. Congrats Rener
digging deeper and deeper on their facebook page. Its astounding how the kool aid effects these people. Disgusting.
Actually we can't be surprised. Looking at so many martial arts over the years it is easy to see sheep. Some people want to be taken advantage of just so they can be made to feel good. They are great to scam.

Well, not BJJ... GJJ.
As they always point out, they don't even teach "BJJ" they teach "GJJ".
In fact, they have put a whole lot of "renergy" into differentiating themselves from mere BJJ; that's what their whole marketing schtick is based on.
So great, if thisis what "GJJ" now is --teen instructors, video training and suckers thinking they are trained in self-defense just because they pay too much money to practice some unworkable standing joints locks-- you can definitely keep it. I want nothing to do with that.
