Just to reiterate, they aren't wearing the Seth-do black belts to teach GJJ, and they're not marketing themselves as JJ black belts.

A few of our esteemed forum members brought up Rener in the Most dislike Gracie thread. They didn't really go into details, but I am sure this isn't helping his dislike ranking right now. 
In the original post there were pics of them doing grappling wearing the black belts.
digging deeper and deeper on their facebook page. Its astounding how the kool aid effects these people. Disgusting.

Rener reviewed their FB page YESTERDAY. Yep, still doesn't address the belt issue.
It's ridiculous...The have the triangles in the emblem...yeah yeah mountains, colorado - that's all it is.
They wear the helio gi. Their FB page is gracie jj. Their women's self-empowerment seminar poster where they're all posing doing RNCs, they're wearing their BB.
ANY time they want to be misleading about the belt and get called out, they just say that that class was their other whatever art.... and even in that other art, why are they the same level as their instructor who I believe is in one of their FB pics?... It's total boolsheet....

This thread made me realize something; Rener & Ryron Gracie are the new Al & Will Tracy.
If you are not familiar, Al & Will Tracy were the Kenpo guys who pretty much started all this "learn by video tape" stuff, way back when. They sold franchises and were excellent businessmen who were great at using their marketing and charisma to get people to affiliate under the Tracy banner.
They raked in the money with video testing,private lesson add-ons and by making "certified instructors" quickly.
Decades ago the Tracy's wrote the book on all this stuff the Gracies are doing today.
Eventually though, the Tracy name became synonymous with "McDojo" and it more or less destroyed the brand they built. Most of their schools --often headed by poorly/quickly trained instructors-- closed. But, the Tracy's got rich first.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

On a separate note I can't think of anyone in the BJJ world who is better at connecting with and empowering an audience than Rener is. He is a true master in that regard.
Is that a euphemism for slick salesman?
