So you want the MMA fighter talent pool to be less than that of garbage truck drivers?

Tim Kennedy perhaps, but what the hell "normal job" is PVZ going to work? Thotting it up on instagram and getting punched in the face was probably her best path.

On what basis are they underpaid? What are these fighters comparing their pay to?

PVZ has fought 8 times in 6 years, didn't fight at all in 2017, once in 2018, and once in 2019. Not that hard to make the same amount of money at a regular job when you do your current job an average of 1.3 times a year.

Other top level professional athletes? Who’s companies probably make less money but pay their employees much more?

Want NBA money? Play for the NBA

Want NFL money? Play for the NFL

Fighters have to be the stupidest people on earth.

It is all relative. I know a top 5 UFC LW that went from making less than $10k on the regional scene as a champ to six figures in his first 12 months with the UFC. My boxing coach has trained a state champ who won a pro state title that made less than the UFC fighter did in his 1st UFC Fight.

Garbage truck drivers where I am from make $50-60K.

"Kennedy revealed that he was due around $55,000 to show up at UFC 162, with the purse potentially increasing to $70,000 with a win bonus – but that after the expenses of his camp, medicals and fight team, he would only pocket around $20,000, even before taxes. After the interview, Kennedy sent a detailed breakdown of how his fight purse would be divided up: 13% on gym fees, 12% for nutrition, 10% to his manager, 10% to his coach, 8% on his camp lodging, 3% for fight medicals and 3% on equipment. In total, that’s 59% of his fight purse before tax is deducted."

Kennedy made that in 1 fight! I laugh how the fighters don't want to take into account the UFC's operating expenses while listing their own operating expenses as a reason to make additional money. That said I do think the UFC should pay more. Also, I am sick of hearing journalists talk about taxes without realizing that as an independent contractor Kennedy could deduct many of those expenses from his taxes.

Considering that Paige never fights, that's neither surprising nor concerning.

Who play more than once a year.

Its not the pure numbers.

Its the % of what the UFC brings in that goes out to the talent that sustains them.

In 2020, guys are still making pathetic show money. Yes the top people in the marquee divisions are rich. Thats great.

But how can you actually draw the best talent when people cant get by on the way to the top?

That UFC pay break down does not take into account sponsorship deals, appearance fees, seminars. If you are fighting at that high of a level you are definitely making way more than a garbage truck driver. These people are delusional and bad with money.

Plenty of guys have made it to the top that way though. Those marquee guys who are rich now didn’t start out that way.

Actually, yeah. I would. No UFC = start watching other sports. No garbgae truck drivers = living in filth, squalor, disease and pestilence.

Seems like an easy choice to me.

If you want a job that pays better than being a garbage man, don’t be a MMA fighter.

If you choose to be a MMA fighter then don’t bitch and moan that you’re not getting paid more.

IT’S NOT A SECRET THAT 99% OF PRO FIGHTERS CAN’T MAKE A DECENT LIVING JUST FIGHTING.

There’s no con-job or conspiracy.

Cry me a fucking river.
