NotJustA12er -Ken Shamrock threw a ton of body punches in his first fight with Tito in 2002 and Tito was unphased. Ken hits very hard, too.dahosse -Who exactly attacked Tito's body between 2000-09 ! No cunt .......NotJustA12er - Tito can't take body shots. That's why he retired . He was exposed by Machida and Evans .Exposed, exshmosed- Tito was in his prime in 2000ish. When did he fight Evans? 2009? And that knee machida hit him with was a bunkerbuster. Which he ate. Don't hate on him for that one.
Ur point is just a circumstantial fact that doesn't mean shit ?
What I am saying is now machida and Evans have basically showed a blueprint how to finnish him , every present day fighter with a brain would employ to beat him .
NotJustA12er -Sooo, here's a good way to check the dividing line between new fans and old ones- old fans recognize how short a fighter's shelf life is. You point to Tito losing to rashad and machida to point out how he sucks, and I point out the competitive fights he had with those two young lions to point out how he's great.dahosse -Who exactly attacked Tito's body between 2000-09 ! Look at the fighter young Tito was- just look at the difference in how he moves between now and then. Go back to his fights with bohlander, mezger, and wanderlei- because that's how far you have to go back to see a version of Tito that didn't have two bum knees and a trick back.
The irony here is that I used to get into it with other posters about how Tito isn't so great and was ducking chuck. Now, I'm arguing the point with kids who may have still been in diapers when he started fighting. Funny how the world turns.
The prime of his career was when there was zero ufc talent. As soon as the ufc signed talent he started losing most his fights. Hes not a has been, he's a never was. His legacy is being a great fight promoter when the sport got its shot to go mainstream, thats it.
i honestly dont think tito would beat jonny fitch, even

I like Tito...I do. However, Tito has lost his damn mind to think that he could have ever beat John Jones. Tito does not and did not have superior wrestling and take downs. Tito also cannot handle fighting at a distance. In addition to that he folds every single time he is pressured against the cage. He just continues to try to roll with the punches until eventually one lands, then it is all over. Tito has zero chance now, and zero chance then. Saying things like this just makes him look bad.
NotJustA12er -I don't know. Your memory sucks? You're looking at Tito that was shooting low singles, turning the corner, and driving through, comparing him to a guy that can barely bend over to tie his shoes that reinvented himself as a boxer, and calling them the same? Sounds like you don't have the world's most educated eye, fren. His technique's gotten better, but his raw handspeed has noticeably diminished. His mobility through his spine, his ability to change levels- these are all things new (old) Tito just doesn't have. He's got multiple fused vertebrae, muchacho. Do you understand what that means?dahosse -Im 30 and been watching mma for 12 years !NotJustA12er -Sooo, here's a good way to check the dividing line between new fans and old ones- old fans recognize how short a fighter's shelf life is. Faster
stronger
Harder hitting
Better all round fighters
Better cardio
You seem to remember what you want .
Tito could out cardio people until other fighters cardio evolved .
Tito would have a world class ground game until everyone else's evolved .
He reinvented as a striker ( good for him ) but that was never his game and his striking is nowhere as good as JBJ .
His speed may have diminished , but no more than other athletes his age .
dahosse -Sounds to me like ur just a guy with a back injury and sympathise with Tito .NotJustA12er -I don't know. Your memory sucks? Ur judgment is clouded .
Hope ur back gets better :)
RyannVonDoom - No he wouldnt. Tito was and always will be one of the most overrated fighters in mma history.Isn't sak considered an all time great? Guy mezger arguably beat him, and tito savaged the shit out of guy mezger.
Isn't wanderlei considered an all time great? Tito ko'ed and decisioned him in the same fight.
Aren't machida and rashad considered some of the best of the new generation? Didn't they have a couple of real even fights with Tito?
Tito, who's been fighting professionally since when?
How does any of that make him overrated?
Trick question- answer is you suck.

Since you are doing THAT...
Dont leave out that Metzger beat Tito in the 1st fight a lot more convincingly than he "beat" Sak.
And also...
dont leave out that Belfort arguably beat Tito(many think so),while Sakuraba beat Belforts ass no doubt.
Tito is not overrated but he'd have to be considered an underdog against Jones, at any point in his career
Truemanc3 - Randy shut Titos game down and dam near crippled him... This was when Tito was near the top and just before his back problems.
Tito'd already been hit by a bus at that point.

THIS , end of story!!! Anyone saying Tito had a chance haven't seen him in his prime or just so blinded by their lust for this guy that they can't see straight.
lol @ tito
I'm a Tito fan. But the man is smoking big fat giant crack rocks. JJ is probably 1/3 the fighter he is going to be, and I don't see how prime-Tito had a better chance than Rashad or Lyoto do now. He might have had a little better chance than them against JJ, but... A little better wouldn't have come anywhere close to putting Rashad or Lyoto over the top in their fights with JJ.
JJ is still very young, and he's still a little clumsy and awkward. Wait for him to smooth out and refine himself and become more fluid. He will be the GOAT. Tito is a hall of famer, but, JJ is something else.
tito is now making excuses for fights he doesn't have. nice. keeping douche-baggery at an extreme level is all he does well.
