Having 10 or so rules is great... IF you want your dojo to decend into anarchy.
We have a 131 page rule book ALL Shendokan students need to abide by. And like any body of laws, it responsively grows to meet new needs.
For instance, just yesterday I added Rule # 712.2:
"If I am eating Poptarts and watching a movie on my laptop on the couch, DON'T TALK TO ME even if it is just for a second to tell me the vending maching stole your dollar again."
I've never seen it posted that a lower belt can't ask a higher belt to roll but I like that as a rule. Anyone seen this posted at a school? The no third hook and eye contact should also be on there for levity. I'd actually like to see a dad explain those jokes at the kids classes.
