So GSP says in this interview that the UFC is attempting to have a card in Monaco. The interview's in French and I'm too lazy to translate but here it is as well as a map of Monaco as I'm sure some of the hicks out there have never heard of Monaco(it's in Europe).
"Eurosport, who are broadcasting from France, recently took Pride (and MMA in general) of their schedule because it is not allowed by the French government."
are you serious?
the French have plenty of great MT guys, and MT is a far more brutal sport, I am surprised they would make a rule like this.
Interesting. I wonder where the hell they would have it. I was there 6 months ago and I think the only place they might be able to do it would be the Louis II Stadium. which is outdoor.
Would be a hell of a lot easier to do it practically next door in Nice.
Interesting. Jorge Gurgel recently stated that the UFC was holding an event in Ireland in june. It seems that Dana is close to his goal of holding at least four events in europe this year.
Pro' MMA is banned in France and all MMA is banned from broadcast on French TV. Eurosport is a French company but broadcasts some MMA in other countries but not France.
They are indeed adding a French IFL team, they're expected to start competing in 2008 with Jerome Le Banner as coach. If all of the fighters rumored to be on the team make it, they'll do very well in the IFL.
The UFC are expected to hold an event in Belfast in June, why they chose Belfast and not Dublin I have no idea.
been to monaco for the f-1 gp, and the only thing it has in common with vegas is casino gambling. Vegas and Monaco might as well be on different planets
