UFC prelims on Fuel Breaks Record 194k viewers...

UFC on fox 4 prelims pull a record 194k viewers making it the highest rated prelim event on Fuel

It even beat Zombie vs Porier... making you wonder why main card fights are on fuel instead of fx when the prelims are more than suffecient live event programming.  .numbers:

If you move the FX fight nights to saturdays it will increase the ratings for both the main card on fx and the prelims on fuel.  If you move the fuel main cards to fx you'd have more stars you can put on fox/ppv, you'd have more content for the casual fanbase to follow the sport and more casuals means more demand for fuel, better ratings on fox and bigger ppv buys.  And you'd have more stars for fox/ppv (zombie, weidman, gustaffson, etc...)

great.....maybe ill be able to access this channel sometime in the next few years.

^ i believe 8 million more homes are secured which will be active by thanksgiving and a bunch more on the table.

fuel could be in as many as 60 million homes or more by 2013 or as little as 48 million... depending on how well the fertittas/dana/fox's initial push goes.

The low ppv numbers actually helps them because the carriers are gonna want the ppv numbers to go back up.

ZUFFA should just buy Bellator

If fuel was available in 80 million homes and in a better position on the channel guide like (versus) these prelims would be garnering around 700k plus viewers.

good news.

HenryO - ZUFFA should just buy Bellator
Viacom already did, and they ain't selling.

Sweet!  In 7 years they'll maybe have ratings the level that they left Spike in 2011. ;-)

^ i dont think they'll ever get to spike levels with fuel...  they'll likely get to versus levels with fuel.   And once fuel is in 80 million homes I doubt Fox continues to air 40 hrs of UFC programming a week.

HAHA yup, will be very interesting what kinda ratings they get in January and what kind of fighters they get.

I think a reason for a lot of the UFCs success in Canada is that all of the content is on one channel Sportsnet. In the US everything is spread across so many channels now

Good, maybe now they can put all the prelims on Fuel instead of gay ass Facebook Phone Post

Strikeforce Challengers numbers!

Do you think Zuffa's deal with Fox has something in it that they get extra for getting Fuel into more homes? Like we'll give you full access to Fuel to do what you want with it and use the UFC brand to build it up and get it into more homes and for that you get extra money or do you think they just get the 100 mill a year for everything?

Because they are really helping Fox out taking a dead channel and getting record number of people to watch it and their goal is to get it into 70/80 million homes over the next few years. If they do that yes its good for the UFC to be on that channel in that many homes but its huge for FOx. So do you think the UFC is getting something extra for getting Fuel into more homes?

They have no such clause in the deal. They just get 100 million dollars a year for everything (which isn't to shabby considering they were getting 1/3 that amount on Spike.). The "something extra" the UFC will get will be the exposure they'll receive from a legitimate sports channel once FOX rebrands Fuel as the FOX Sports Channel

nope... obviously they have more free reign on fuel than they do on FX and Fox and even more than they had on spike. but all they get is the license fee and that's it.  You gotta realize the wwe doesnt even get this much money for both smackdown and raw and they pull huge ratings.  That's why Vince is taking shots... he's gonna want a raise.

ppv's going down is actually good for fox because it will pressure the carriers to pick up fuel because they take half the ppv money.

a report earlier in the year came out that fox was gonna turn fuel into their espn (national sports network)... as soon as that came out and with fx burying the ufc on friday nights zuffa became alarmed.  Then all of a sudden the rumor changed to the speed network becoming fox's national sports network.  we'll see...

At the end of the day once fuel is in 80 million homes and the 7 year deal is done fox isnt gonna be running 40 hrs of ufc content on fuel... but on the flip side in 8 years everything will be streaming over the internet and the UFC will be able to have it's own channel with a majority of the supply chain costs gone.

They are essentially using each other and Zuffa is upset that fox is using them more to further their interests than they planned on using fox to further their own.,

.

In 8 years whoever owns and produces the content will call the shots.  the same way the internet devalued newspaper brands and made paper obsolete in 8 years it will devalue tv channels and make the digital tv feed obsolete.

It sounds like they are coming together on more even ground now...  dana and the fertittas are gonna go fly around helping fox get fuel into more home and fox is gonna promote the ufc more and give them better time slots.  but unfortunately Fox has most of the leverage in the relationship.

If I haven't said it before, I love MMALogic's posts.

They may pull huge ratings but their audience doesn't have the disposable income advertisers covet. The A18-34 and the M18-34 demos aren't the ones watching WWE Smackdown and RAW. That's why they can't demand the kind of fees Zuffa can from a network.

Great news. I'm not American, but at least it's positive news for mma. Phone Post

Raw does double the ratings in M18-34 than anything UFC could ever do.

Raw in 18-34 is always top ten on cable. UFC hasn't been since Kimbo was on Tough Enough.
